As community members we all have rights and duties. Our community owes us our everyday rights. And we owe our community to be active members; we should do what we are capable of in order to payback our community and work towards its sustainability and betterment. This concept in its simplest form is "Civic Engagement". Civic engagement means researching, working for, and involving in a better society. This kind of engagement is based on our participation as community members. It is also based on us creating initiatives to invest in a better sustained healthier society. For us to engage civically in our society, we first start by scrutinizing and observing the public concerns. Hence, students become more satisfied as they arrive on campus within a considerable period of time before their classes. Besides that, Carpooling has reduced on-campus congestion as well as the huge amount of pollution coming from multiple car exhausts. Students along with AUC are raising awareness around campus and urging people to seek carpooling as a key to fixing their transportation problems. They have created forums for carpooling as well as a face book page for students to offer each other’s rides or ask for rides for themselves. All of these forums provide empirical data for us to observe and scrutinize the perks of switching to carpooling. Another solution for the bus problem is that the university should conduct plenty of surveys asking people about their satisfaction with the service provided. Those surveys should also provide the university with data about the student’s preferable and negligible timeslots - as to increase the number of buses at the busiest time slots while simultaneously decreasing that of buses provided in unneeded time slots -. It encourages its students and faculty members to become active members in their society as a whole as well as on their on campus society. Civic Engagement is a key element for us to actively work for the betterment of our society and future. By switching to carpooling and seeking alternative hygienic standards we are taking a step on the huge ladder of future development. We are seeking sustainability and an alternative healthier way of living. Most of the civic engagement initiatives are providing us with empirical facts that urge us to become active. Our society needs us to become better members and to employ our full resources in seeking greener, less congested, and more healthy
