There is belief that there is a secret society that is even more precarious than the Freemasons. May 1,1776, Europe, during the American revolution there was a man named Adam Weishaupt who was a professor at the University of Ingolstadt in Bavaria. Weishaupt was the founder of the organization called The Illuminati. The Illuminati was a secret society set up in a very secluded way. The organizations main purpose was to infiltrate the Freemasons and take over the world.

When the Illuminati was starting out, it had only 5 original members that gathered secretly, like the Freemasons, to discuss how to make their society to grow and eventually overthrow the Freemasons and all forms of government. “Weishaupt believed that he and his handful of illuminati could overthrow all governments of kings and bishops in State and Church, and then rule the world; for only the Illuminati could introduce a tolerant and libertarian regime on earth.”(Ridley 115).
