“…and something blue,” my mother whispered and added a pearly blue pin into my hair. Her eyes sparkled as she looked over the flowing white dress that my body supported. “My darling, my darling,” she breathed out. I stepped down off the platform, curls bounced around my face. I heard the voices of our guests as they arrived to the venue, just under my hotel room. My heart raced in my chest and my palms began to sweat, the sound of the clock echoed in my head. Nerves and excitement raced through me. “Lili, my sweet darling, you look beautiful,” my mother broke the silence; she brought a smile to my face. “Thank you mum, I love you,” I murmured as my maid of honour entered the room. “It’s show time!” she cried out cheerfully. I watched as the bridesmaid left the room single file, my little sisters in front with a flower basket in their little hands. My mother hooked her arm around mine, “Ready?” she asked softly.
