University of Saint Francis is the right college for me and you won’t be sorry you picked me! Last year I had enrolled in a vocational class called Primary Health Care. In Primary Health Care I gained my CNA license and later got a job at a nursing home. Since then I have found a love in caring for people, nothing gives my heart more joy then being there for someone. Whether it be for daily care or someone just needing to sit and talk. Since then I have decided to further my medical education into becoming an RN. That is where Saint Francis comes into play. I have heard of Saint Francis’s great Nursing program and just had to apply! Since I know that this is what I want in my life I know nothing is going to stop me from achieving it. Sure you may get a decent paycheck but in the end you are always going to need heart because without it I feel you are not much of a nurse. I’ve even seen it at work! There is a large difference in the nurses that have heart and the nurses that are there for the paycheck. The nurses that have their heart in it will bend over backwards and make sure their patients are comfortable and being taken well care of. Not only do you need your heart in this but you also need patience. I truly believe heart, patience, and hard work is the key points to a nurse and I am here to say that I’m that nurse. My heart is completely into what I am doing and nothing is going to change that. Not only is my heart into this but I am extremely hard working and I know that things take time to heal and I know people in pain need time. I also know that nurses and other workers around me need time and don’t need to always be rushed with what they are doing because rushed work is not always the best

My main source of inspiration to become a nurse comes from an innate desire to help people and care for them in times of need. I am also a person who thrives on being challenged and I always have new goals to achieve, so nursing suits me as few other careers offer as much diversity and learning opportunities so, attending Virginia Commonwealth University is something that has been my desire for the longest. My courses and experience has empowered, and has reinforced my determination to pursue a career as a nurse. I am eager and excited about starting nursing school, and having my dream which started as a young girl to come full circle. I am convinced I am a good candidate because I have the innate drive to complete the program. I am willing to learn and use those skills and knowledge acquired to provide something meaningful to the society and humanity. Since a very young age I had a goal of helping individuals, families, and communities. When I got older it became harder to decide what route in the medical field I wanted to pursue and where I thought I fit best. I’ve gone back in forth between many paths including: pediatrics, orthopedics, pharmacy, physician assistant, and nursing. However, as I reached my senior year it became clear to me that nursing was best suited for me. Finally having a career goal, I set forth by applying to nursing schools with my number one being Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut. My area of study is in nursing because my goal is to be a Nurse Practitioner. Being a nurse requires to have outstanding abilities in math and science. Nurses are also logical thinkers and they have wonderful communication skills. During my college career, I will have to participate in labs and have a required amount of clinical hours. In order to become a Nurse Practitioner, I will need a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree and a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification. My classes of interest are Anatomy, Physiology, Chemistry, and a lot of math classes.
Everyone has a choice of what they want to choose as a career, and I chose a Registered Nurse. I was interested in this career because I always wanted to be a nurse and as I got older I learned that my Grandma was once a Registered Nurse and I thought well since she was a Registered Nurse then I will try to be one and see how it works out. The work schedule for being and RN is that you could get called into work at any time and you have to come into you work you can not make up an excuses(Registered). You could get called in to work night shifts even if your a day shift you also have to work on weekends, and maybe even holidays. You have to be able to work at any time any day(Registered). The
Nursing and Qualities That I Possess to become a Good Nurse Nursing is the act of safely caring, protecting and improving our clients’/patients’ health and ability without causing any further harm or disability to them. Our primary goal is to restore and maintain good health physically, spiritually and psychologically. It is a science, such that one has to apply the nursing knowledge and technical aspects of practice. However, it is important to incorporate the act of patient-centered care, which is defined according to QSEN/NOF, as holistic care that recognizes the patient as the source of control and full-partner in providing compassionate and coordinated care with respect for the patient’s desire, values, needs and preferences. It has to incorporate with the nurse’s personality, i.e., certain qualities that the individual possess.
One thing I've always wanted to do, even as a child was to take care of people. Once I became older and was able to take classes in the High School, I found that I enjoyed nursing class after taking two years of fit. Now I'm working to get a job at one of the Nursing homes in Beatrice and get my CNA (which they said they would help!). Being a Registered Nurse involves many tasks and responsibilities. Some of those responsibilities are assess a patient's health problems/needs, monitor all aspects of patient's care, and modify patients treatment plans as indicated. It is important that these are done properly, and well; because people may need your help that are in crucial conditions that is required for those needs to be met properly.
It’s been my desire, longing for a nursing career since I was in my primary and secondary school. At the age of 12, I began to look after children and baby-sitting then, from there, I gained the understanding of how to deal with children. When taking my prerequisite courses I strived for my best, maintained a positive attitude, and made the best out of difficult and stressful situations. Not only have I looked for ways to excel academically, but I have also looked for ways to get involved in my community. When my class schedule permitted me to get involved in other activities I looked for ways to help improve my community such as tutoring the student’s of Canyon Lake High School in Biology and volunteering with the after school learning program at Morning Side Elementary School. I plan on using my degree in nursing to fulfill many duties such as caring for people in underprivileged countries, traveling to hospitals across the United States as a travel nurse, and educating the community about health and wellness. When I first thought that I wanted to be a nurse I heard a lot of positive words of encouragement and advice but I also heard, “Nursing school is going to be the hardest thing you ever do” or “Are you sure you can do nursing school? I heard it was really hard.”. I still hear even from family, classmates, my friends; “I can’t believe you are in nursing school, care for your patient, and have a child. I don’t know how you do it.” My response is always the same, I am in nursing school because this is my passion, it has been since I was a senior in high school, 10 years ago. When I was five years old, I was asked what I wanted to be when I grew up. Typically, as a five year old, I wanted to be just like my mom. My mom was a genuine human being with one of the biggest hearts around, and I am not just saying that. In order to be like my mom, I needed to become a nurse.
In today’s society, there are many different dream jobs to choose from, be it a job in nursing, the Military, Education, legal, or maybe even engineering. The list can go on and on as long as I am determined on finding the right job that fits me. I would have to weigh out the good and the bad of each one I considered. Every different one that I thought would be a good fit for me had some good points to them as well as some bad ones. At the end of the day, I have decided to go with a career in nursing.
