As individuals we are driven by our emotions which are interwoven with our cultural backgrounds, ethics, and our surroundings. Are these the sources that generally mold our perspectives towards the pursuit of knowledge? Considering this, we can acknowledge that human sciences are a significant role factor in the validation of one’s pursuit of knowledge through perspective. The human sciences analyze and evaluate human behavior through a branch of psychology, interpreting one’s experiences through the course of their life. Dealing with certain situations or even others on a daily basis, inevitably influences our mindset, (positive, pessimistic, etc.) behavior, (violent, calm, shy, outgoing) dependence/independence. In particular, an individual suffering from an abusive relationship with their partner might behave shy, withdrawn, pensive, and submissive. This individual will probably feel not good enough or will most likely experience signs of depression. In my personal surroundings, living in a single-parent household, with my father out of the picture in Cuba, my mother has been left with the burden of being the only one to sustain all of our expenses. Gradually, I have come to the realization that if I want to provide viable aid to my mom, my prime focus must lie in my studies and academic grades in order to attain a full ride to college. I don’t have the luxury of allowing myself to take a break and dissuade my mindset from my studies nor would I choose to. Knowledge is basically the theoretical or practical understanding of a subject. It consists of facts and skills acquired by a person through experience or education. Ethical considerations are relative to one’s own knowledge, experience, and value system. According to Hunt and Vitell (1986), ethical judgment is the process of considering several alternatives and choosing the most ethical alternative. For Rest (1986), ethical judgment is the process by which an individual determines that one alternative is morally right and another alternative is morally wrong. “Broadly, ethical judgement can be defined so as to include the decision process as well as the action itself.” This essay aims to discuss the way in which ethical judgements limit the methods available in the production of knowledge in both the arts and natural sciences.
This analysis of Christian ethics mirrors my worldview and reinforces what was learned from my supplemental readings and core assignments.
Throughout the book Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave many themes are developed relating to slavery. Such themes that are well developed include corruption, brutality, and knowledge. Perhaps the most important theme that was developed was knowledge and its power in everything. Frederick Douglass gained knowledge throughout his life, defying the laws surrounding slavery. Perhaps one of the most impressive things from the life of Frederick Douglass was the fact that, except for a few months at the beginning of his engagement with Mr. and Mrs. Auld, he was a self taught man who took it upon himself to expand his knowledge. Frederick Douglass discovered the power of knowledge and applied this to his life in many different stages. First, he discovered that knowledge is power. Second, he went out of his way to obtain all the knowledge he could. Third, he used that knowledge, that he had gained over years and years of self-taught, underground learning, and used it to run away from the brutal life of a slave. Finally, he used the knowledge he had gained to publicly speak against the institution of slavery and make it a point to earn the right of universal suffrage for all men. He presented many ideas, which we today, can see were very strong and moral convictions from his views as an abolitionist.

Knowledge has always been a parameter through which human progress has been measured, Knowledge could be an aspect gained from a fact or a situation present. The production of knowledge relies on different ways of knowing, sense perception, emotion, reason and language. The production of knowledge differs from each human being leading to acquiring of personal knowledge and contributing to the shared knowledge. Society also plays a role in influencing the production of knowledge through various judgments that it passes on the manner in which knowledge is produced. Ethics is a set of principles which are morally right and are used to govern people’s actions and on the basis of that judgments are passed, rules made and norms are established. This leads us to the issue : to what extent does compromising ethical judgement lead to useful knowledge in natural science and arts.
As a child I can remember going to church every Sunday, sometimes twice; in the morning and the evening. I would sit in Sunday school and listen to stories from the Bible about right and wrong. As a child I never thought to question the Bible as it was the word of God. My moral compass has roots derived from these standards set forth in the Bible. Lawrence Kohlberg was an American psychologist whose work on moral development identified three major levels (DeGeorge, 22). Little did I know but at the time I was in a pre-conventional development level wherein most of the time I obeyed for fear of God’s punishment and my parents wrath as well.

This theory concludes that during the level of conventional reasoning, an individual bases their moral reasoning off of the rules and expectations of those they deem to have authority (Arnett, 2015, p. 382). I find that this theory applies to the observation of this adolescent as she was brought to this religious gathering by her mother and engaged in activities as expected by those who ran the event. During this observation period, she was reluctant to engage in activity congruent with morals and religion, until prompted by those around her. This act of conformity, in addition to being dropped off at this gathering by her mother shows that the authority of others in religious and moral practice respectfully. Truth and beliefs contribute in building the knowledge of a person. Cogent reasons for the beliefs convert the beliefs into knowledge. However, sometimes the beliefs are actually assumption, so they may be wrong. Truth is the facts known from different sources. Something can be considered as knowledge, only if it is true. The word epistemology refers to studying the source of knowledge. The epistemology helps in understanding the process of development of knowledge, sources of knowledge and makes distinctions between belief and actual truth. I critically examined and analyzed the origin and the process of acquiring the knowledge for the two essays I wrote earlier. One essay, an analytical one, was written on the subject of increasing prison population and improper justice system. The second essay was written on the subject of human resource management. To develop the knowledge and understanding I demonstrated in the essays, I had to search for resources, rationalize the information gained and evaluate it in conjunction with my personal beliefs.

They hinder the process of scientific research and the production of art, preventing us from arriving at knowledge. This raises the knowledge issues of: To what extent do moral values confine the production of knowledge in the arts, and to what extent are the ways of achieving scientific development limited due to ethical concerns? The two main ways of knowing used to produce ethical judgements are reason, the power of the mind to form judgements logically , and emotion, our instinctive feelings . I will explore their applications in various ethical controversies in science and arts as well as the implications of morals in these two areas of knowledge.
This psychology perspective emphasizes individuals ' inherent drive towards self-actualization, the process of realizing and expressing one 's own capabilities and creativity. It helps the client gain the belief that all people are inherently good. It adopts a holistic approach to human existence and pays special attention to such phenomena as creativity, free will, and positive human potential. It encourages viewing ourselves as a "whole person" greater than the sum of our parts and encourages self exploration rather than the study of behavior in other people. Humanistic psychology acknowledges spiritual aspiration as an integral part of the human psyche. It is linked to the emerging field of transpersonal psychology. As per usual, there are advantages and limitations to this particular theory. One of the greatest strengths of humanistic psychology is that it emphasizes individual choice and responsibility. Humanistic psychology satisfies most people 's idea of what being human means because it values personal ideals and self-fulfillment. Finally, humanistic psychology provides researchers with a flexible framework for observing human behavior because it considers a person in the context of his environment and in conjunction with his personal perceptions and feelings. As with any viewpoint, humanistic psychology has its critics. One major criticism of humanistic psychology is that its concepts are too vague. Critics
