The period between the classical period and the Renaissance period is known as the Medieval period or Middle Ages. During the Early Middle ages (300-1000 A.D.), the Roman empire went through a dark age where they were being harassed by Barbarians from the north and the Persians for the east. This made him feel betrayed by King Edward because he thought Edward had complete loyalty to him after he made Edward king. Elizabeth was a direct descendant of the house of Luxemburg which made her unpopular with the towns people who began creating rumors about her. Similarly, Margery also had to face this problem. Since many of her visions occurred with violent crying and screaming, many people who met her were angered by her. She was also threated and accused of heresy. Furthermore, she has been disliked by her contemporaries and even by critics today. The reason for this is because they believed she was no more than a “hysterical hypocrite” (Elona K. Lucas, 2014).
