Getting a driver's license changed me as quickly as the colors of leaves change during fall. Being licensed is very convenient and has only brought positive changes, allowing me to become a more dependable person. It changed my lifestyle along with my personality. Getting a license inevitably brought multitudinous change to my life, including expenses, freedom, and responsibilities.
The journey to get my license began in my driver's education class. I was a fifteen year old sitting inside a blazing hot classroom during the summer of 2015. The last place I wanted to spend my summer was in a classroom in my own high school but I was constantly looking forward to the luxury of a license. Luckily, I payed enough attention to learn the importance of driving carefully. Throughout the class I learned skills, safety, and precautions to execute during driving. I also passed my permit test during the class and before I knew it I was behind the wheel, taking driving lessons with Wesley Cottrell. After getting my permit, I frequently drove my family and I to different places. I consistently began to drive home from school when my mom picked me up. I enjoyed driving and I logged my driving hours until the day of the test came. The test was on June twenty-ninth, the first possible day I could schedule it. That morning I drove my dad’s Honda Civic to the Brazil license branch. I was in a rush because I wanted to practice parallel parking to assure I could do it during the test. During the test I impressed myself with how well I was driving and by the end I was confident that I had passed. As I stepped foot into the license branch my instructor looked at me and said “congrats, you now I have your license.” I was ecstatic, and enjoy driving but having my license is much different than my
Congratulations on turning fifteen and a half years old! I bet you are excited as I was back when I was fifteen and a half. With earning my Driver’s License, I feel like a more independent (and less dependent) person than if I did not. Knowing this, I knew I had to endure a long tedious process to actually get my license. Obtaining my Driver’s License has provided me with three key components: the freedom, the responsibility, and the dedication.

Teens need to be taught that driving is a task that is complex and demanding. Parents know how much experience a young driver has, and they know exactly how inconvenient it is when they have to drive with their teen everywhere while they have their permit. Teens tend to cause most traffic accidents in adults’ eyes. They are not experienced yet, and often fail to pay attention to others on the road. They often think of a car as being some type of toy, but they do not know how powerful it really is. The driver education programs must be strengthened in order to make sure that students really have safer habits, behind the wheel experience, and by having a better understanding of all the laws on the road.
Many of today’s teens can’t wait to get that piece of paper with the cheap plastic on top, saying they are newly licensed drivers. But in New Jersey that’s going to be a little harder, since January 1, 2001 NJ has put into affect the new Graduated Driver License Program (GDL).
Secondly I noticed when I was in my car on my way to work was the license and the insurance that the government requires in order to operate a motor vehicle. The government requires that all drivers pass a drivers test to demonstrate that they are capable of operating a motor vehicle without harming themselves or others. When they pass this test they are giving a drivers license. If the person violates the laws of the road too many times or seriously this license can be suspended or revoked. The government also requires that the driver have insurance. Insurance is required so that in the event of an accident the parties involved in the accident can afford medical care.
Can you remember when you got your driver?s license? From what I can remember getting my license was one of the most exciting things in my life. Having your license means having more freedom. If I didn?t have my license my life would be very different. To get your license you need to take the class, pass the written test, take behind the wheel, and finally take your driving test.
Getting my first speeding ticket taught me a few life lessons, I am not invincible and that I need to slow down and enjoy the drive. Speeding did one thing for me, it transported me places quickly. I also put my life in danger speeding and could've easily hurt a person. I regret speeding everywhere, but I am thrilled that I had this reality check. This opportunity has given me a chance to change my ways so that I can keep a clean record as I become an adult.
In the 1990's teens would get full licensing and all privileges with little of no testing at all. It wasn’t until 1995 when around twenty states required a learning permit but the system was still very weak, as in teens only had to keep their permit from two to three weeks. One of the reason people say that the legal driven shouldn't be raised is because they think teens should practice at age of 15-17 so by the time they are 17 they will be ready to drive. Teenagers get experience from receiving their driver’s license because they practice out on the road. Instead of waiting until the age of 18 to drive, teenagers get to familiarize themselves with the different, possible driving situations, rather than being inexperienced at 18. Teenagers get independence from receiving their driver’s license because they do not have to rely on their parents for transportation anymore. They are free to make plans of their own once they receive their driver’s license. Independence is an essential part of growing up to being a responsible adult.
