The Ku Klux Klan’s Terrorizing In Tennessee, on December 1865, the Ku Klux Klan was founded. The group starting terrorizing people who had different beliefs than them, which included African-Americans, Jews, Catholics, and whites who fought for equal rights for blacks. They showed racial and ethnic discrimination, small-mindedness about religious beliefs, and different ranges of violence from the end of the Civil War to now. The KKK is one of the United States’ first terrorist organizations. The KKK terrorized groups that weren’t the same as them. They targeted blacks because they thought of them as slaves, viewed them as dirty, and on a lower pedestal. They believed the blacks shouldn’t get the same freedom. The Catholics and Jews were the second targeted group. The Catholic Church was gaining popularity at this time and the Klan didn’t like it. They thought the Catholics believed in the wrong thing and were trying to take over, same for the Jews. Whites who wanted equal rights for blacks got terrorized as much or more than the blacks. They hurt the blacks, like murdering them by lynching them. African-Americans started leaving their homes so the Klansmen wouldn’t hurt them. They wanted to make a point to the African-Americans, with the terrorizing and killings. To prove that, they burned houses, churches, schools, and areas where blacks were. When they started the group, it was because of their hatred. The members were racist to the point where they wanted everyone to know.
