Children and teenagers spend an alarming amount of time using devices such as cell phones, laptops, and iPads; therefore, this paper focuses on the many different ways children and teens are using these devices. What really goes on behind the screen and should parents be more concerned? What is the different outcomes of the use of these devices and social media? There are different ways parents can be more involved and protect their children. Children who are cyberbullied are more likely to have lower self-esteem, receive poor grades, have more health problems, skip school, and use alcohol and drugs. Seventy-two percent of teens that frequently use the internet say they have been the victim of cyberbullying at least once during the last year. Out of that seventy-two percent of teens, only ten percent of them tell their parents about the incident. It is extremely alarming to me that these incidents are current and parents are unaware. Children and teens have become the victims of insults and name-calling and it is ruining their self-esteem and self-worth.
