Music can be a very fun topic to discuss. Many people have different preferences or other first choices in the type of music they listen to. I like many different types of music. But as any other person I have one I prefer. Me, being the normal teenager, I prefer hip-hop.
There are many things I like about hip-hop. Including the beat, artists, and the big variety of voice styles. I love how most hip-hop songs have fast and upbeat tempos. It really makes me enjoy the music more. Also, a lot of artists include different meanings in their songs. Some may have been written when they were feeling down, energetic, or excited. I really enjoy how the different artists all have different voice styles. Some sing better than others but I like that.

Country is definitely not my first choice. I really don't like how the country singers all have the same voice style. They sound the exact same. Also, a lot of country songs are all about the same topic. With that and the voices sounding alike, it really makes the songs sound like they are constantly on repeat. The tempos are usually slow and not upbeat. That doesn't make me feel happy like the hip-hop songs do.
But these two genres are alike and different in many ways. A few similarities are the bass and the artists. Hip-hop and country both can have lots of bass. I like how bass makes the song sound more alive. Also, they share artists. Artists such as Taylor Swift and Florida Georgia Line sing both genres. But they also have differences. They both vary in the meanings of the songs. While hip-hop focuses on the more crazy lifestyle, country is more about normal things that occur in life. There is also a huge difference on tempo. Hip-hop is fast while country usually leans to the more slow side.
In conclusion, many people have different opinions on the large variety of music. There are many to choose from. Most people would greatly prefer some music over others. I am not one to judge for this subject. I like many types. I think music has the same effect on everybody. No matter the
Many would argue that country music isn't country anymore; straying too far from the older generation of fiddles, violins and guitars by incorporating a "pop" feel and focusing more on the beat than the content. Pop music is typically viewed as up-beat and differs from the sad, lonesome sounds of country from the past. I would agree that today's country has a very different sound than previous years, however, still incorporates the down-to-earth feel many of us can relate
Country music is one of the most popular music genres in America. There is a reason it is called Country music: because it reflects the heart and soul of the entire country. This unique genre of music can trace its roots to the very beginning of Southern culture. Through its rich history, Country music has always represented the life of the American little-man, the working-class hero, and has spawned many other forms of American culture in music, movies, television and style.
The hip hop culture began in the suburbs of New York over 30 years ago and has gone through drastic changes over this time. Hip Hop contains four different elements including: graffiti, rap, disc jockey and break-dancing. In the 1970’s, musical artists began to express themselves like Kool DJ Herc. Rap music began to spread through the urban neighborhoods of New York City and people used a new form of expression that gave a chance to sing about anything.
"Is gangster rap hip-hop? Sure. Does gangster rap involve talent? I think not." When people think of hip-hop music they think of violent rap that's talking about killing and raping. Not all hip-hop is like that though. It's not necessary to use obscenities or to speak of murder or drugs to be a good rapper. For some reason violence, sex, crime, and drugs are associated with rap. Rappers feel that they have to take on this gangster image in order to succeed. Not true!
Rapping is simply a single element of hip hop music. Flava Flav of the group Public Enemy, speculates that rap and hip hop are sometimes differentiated by tempo.
Country music can be defined as a unique music genre. ”The songs often have repeated sections or refrains, and the words, are clear and prominent” (Yudkin 274). This helps not only get a song stuck in someone’s head, but makes it become more popular. There are so many voices, origins, and instrumentation that can be used to make pop country original and meaningful. “As one listens, the basic core formula, which consists of a straightforward chord progression, a resonating chorus or bridge, and a memorable story, will most often be the foundation of country music songs” (Turcotte). There are so many themes love, drinking, values, working, and loneliness. The artist also has to make it authentic with intimacy, and heart-felt songs. You hear a lot of different instruments during a country pop song. Mainly acoustic guitar, steel guitar, bass, and fiddle. Artists do not have a good ole country song with out powerful lyrics. Then it is up to the listener to interpret the song. Even with all the other genres out there these day country pop still finds a way to keep it characteristics
The hip hop movement was closely related to music types like jazz, blues, and R&B which were already heavily associated with African American Culture. There were many similarities between the genres of music, “It vigorously erases the contradictory stance towards capitalism, raging sexism, and other non-progressive elements that have always been part and parcel of jazz, the blues, and
Pop music was contrived in the 1950s and 1960s, getting its style from many rock and roll superstars. Country music, however, was established in the 1920s, its style being influenced by the blues. In this day and age, modern pop is at its peak, being considered one of the most popular genres in America. Thirty years ago, nevertheless, country music was thought to be the favored genre among the two. Although many people admire both mainstream pop and old country, they are very distinct genres.
Hip-hop music has changed over time. For example just the other day while heading to store with my friend a Migo’s song began to play. “Why do you like this song?” I asked my friend. He replied because of the beat. I think a lot of my friends would also say the same for much of Migo’s music, yet Migo’s are one of the most popular hip-hop artists out today. Similarly many hip-hop artist nowadays have a songs that sound comparably the same.
