The Idea Behind the Truth What’s your opinion on alcohol. Well Joan Dunayer explains her idea about it in her article “Here’s to Your Health.” The article consists of stories and different perspectives on what drinking does to your life and what people think it does. Looking into the article it reveals nothing really good about alcohol and that it provides false claims of what people claim it is. Dunayer explains in her article how alcohol can ruin someones life and there perspective of it through stories and different examples that people give. In this story I’ve come to understand, Joan Dunayer contrasts the glamorous “myth” about alcohol presented in our popular culture. Unfortunately there are numerous influences in our society that is pushing people to drink. Alcohol ads appear with pounding frequency in magazines, billboards, college newspapers. At the end of the example, Tod had passed out and the team was rushing him to the hospital. His blood alcohol level was so high he should of died. Dunayer uses several different rhetorical strategies here to get a point across to the reader. The one that was revealed to me was how descriptive she was to the reader. She used such descriptive words that I could see in my head what was actually happening. Just like when she said “he took a swallow, and every time the bottle was passed back to him”(Here’s to Your Heath; Paragraph 1). She makes you feel like you were a person sitting in the car passing the bottle around. Also, she says “Todd learned that his blood level had been so high that he was lucky not to be dead” (Here’s to Your Heath; Paragraph
