Today cars are all around us. They come in many different shapes and sizes. Some of them are even becoming better for the environment. Let's go back to the car when it was first made. Believe it or not Henry Ford was not the first person to create the car. However, what he did was still very important. Henry Ford was born on July 30th, 1863 in Wayne County, Michigan on his family's farm. From a very young age, Ford showed a great amount of promise. When he was fifteen years old his dad gave him a pocket watch. He was able take it apart and then put it back together successfully. He was so good at it that his neighbors asked him to fix their watches and clocks. What made this even more impressive was that Ford really didn't have a top notch education. Taking apart and reassembling a pocket watch is a very difficult task. So if you can do at without even having an excellent education,you have a gift. This was very true for Henry Ford. Ford was not happy working on the farm, so at the age of 16 he left for Detroit. There, he would become an apprentice for a machinist. This apprenticeship allowed him to operate and maintain steam engines nimbly. Ford would also acquire knowledge in the task of bookkeeping. Sanchez 2 In 1888 Ford got married to Clara Ala Bryant and had a child. He was forced to go back to working on the farm to support his wife and son. After three years of pure farm work he was given the opportunity to work for the Edison Illuminating Company. This company was set up to give electricity to companies primarily set up in New York. Henry Ford was a pacifist and didn't agree with World War I. He was so against it that he funded a peace ship that was sent to Europe. He founded the Ford Foundation and donated money for research and education. Even though he showed traits for a Philanthropist, he also showed some for a Robber Baron. He despised People who spoke Semitic languages. Ford disliked them so much that he supported a newspaper article that was anti-Semite. Henry Ford passed away on April 7th,1947 of a cerebral hemorrhage. He was a man who did great things. Ford helped many middle class American families by making the automobile available to them. He helped others while doing what he loved. With a strong personality, that sometimes got him into trouble he helped the American economy when it was very weak. His name shall always be remembered.
