With the rise of technology and industry advancement, there are a lot of good things to look forward to, so many new inventions that help make the way we live and work on a day to day bases so much easier, and that’s pretty exciting. As our technology evolves we become more dependent on it and it cripples our generation in certain ways from being self-dependent. This also means, our generation and the one’s after us will be more tech savvy, but there’s a good chance we could lose sight of the things around us that are most important, like our family and our environment. This was not easy as I thought It would be considering I had four months to complete this assignment. It took a lot of planning, paperwork and scheduling, which is different from anything I had ever done in the past, because I had to do all of the planning and scheduling by myself. Fortunately, I had a wonderful mentor who helped me plan for the club events. It took me two months just to get the club certified but after It was official, I organized club meetings, trips to the community garden, and I planned a trip to Bearfield Primary School (ages 5-10) to teach the students about healthy eating. Me and the club members read to around 40 different students and got them engaged in learning about healthy beneficial nutritional diets. There are so many ways GMOs affect us and the environment, and not surprisingly a lot of students didn’t know about the affects it has on our bodies. I understand that scientist invented them to decrease world hunger, tractor usage and to save land, but sometimes good intentions don’t always work the way we want them to. There have been research showing that GMOs have cause tumors in lab rights after around 3-4 months, and that the gene for Bt toxins can linger in our bodies, this can lead to a real threat, but all the facts are being ignored so that big companies that use GMOs can continue to make money and expand their production.
