Football Has Impacted Our Society In Many Ways

The origin of professional football can be traced all the way back to 1892. Then, in 1920 the Professional Football Association was formed. A few years later they changed their name to what we know today as the National Football League. Today the NFL is made up of 32 teams divided equally between the National Football Conference. The National Football League season runs for 17 weaks from Labor Day to a few weeks after Christmas. The NFL has become one of the four major professional sports leagues in America. Because of this, American football has had a major impact on our society in many ways, both positive and negative. Football has been able to bring people outside of the sport together, bring people within the team together, but has also promoted violence among children and adults in society. …show more content…

One of the most important things that football has done for America is that it has had the power to bring people together. One of the biggest thing that has brought people together is the pride for someones team. If another person prefers a similar team as someone else then that could bring them together in many ways. Talking about football could be an icebreaker for a conversation. Most Americans know at least a little about football so that is a great thing to talk about with someone who you aren't very familiar with. Also many of different races could enjoy a similar football team and that would bring them together with others who are of other ethnicities. The football season also runs over most of the holiday season. This is the perfect thing to bring the family together into one space and enjoy each others time and have something to bond
