Sports play a vital role in society today. Sports help one find their true inner self. There are many types of sports in the world but three of the most commonly played are basketball, soccer, and football. All three of these sports are exciting and take skills but there are some major differences to each.
Basketball is a game that requires many skills. In order to be successful at the game of basketball know how to shoot, dribble, and pass. Basketball is a team game that allows one to develop good people skills while working together as a single unit. The teams require a point guard, shooting guard, power forward, small forward, and center. Each one of these players vary in size and height along with ability. When playing this game, pads and protective gear are required. Football is a rough, contact sport. It is a mostly boys sport but on occasion a girl will take the risk and play. The boys who play it are usually very muscular and large like my friend Colby Rider. Helmets are needed to protect your head from injuries to the brain. It is played in four quarters and you score in increments of six. To add to these six points, you can score a two point conversion or kick a field goal. The field goal is worth one extra point and a two point conversion, which is harder to complete, is worth two. The players are passionate about the game and touchdown celebrations are common. There are 11 players for each team allowed on the field at once; the offensive positions consist of a quarterback, running back, five linemen, a tight end, and depending on the formation possibly three to four wide receivers. The defensive positions are cornerbacks, safeties, inside and outside linebackers, and defensive lineman.
Basketball, soccer, and football are all team sports that need dedicated players in order for them to be successful. All three sports are loved by many and cherished. Basketball, soccer, and football are a few of the many sports that help make America the wonderful place it is
