Why are the bans and restrictions being put on guns? Why are some necessary and others are pointless? Every year there are more and more restrictions and bans being put on guns. Some of the restrictions and bans are for good reason. Most bans and restrictions however are pointless and unnecessary. Why do we have all the bans and restrictions? There are a number of reasons for the gun control laws that the United States has.
If one would purchase a handgun there would be a waiting period before one would be allowed to receive the handgun. The website states “gun control is the term used to describe how firearms may be legally produced, sold, and used” (“Gun Control”). The law clearly states the rules and regulations against firearms. Such as who they may be sold to, or how they are sold, also by restricting ammo, and certain parts one could buy. Public safety has a lot to do with how people view gun control, but for the most part the 2nd amendment has the biggest role in affecting people's outlook on gun control. You might think with stricter gun control laws it would protect more people but that wasn’t the case here, “Mexico has some of the strictest gun control laws in the world and yet, in 2012, Mexico had 11,309 gun murders (9.97 gun homicides per 100,000 people) compared to the United States that had 9,146 gun homicides (2.97 per 100,000 people)” (“Gun Control Procon.org”). Most people who would commit crimes are already criminals it's no different than drugs those are illegal and people still have them. It doesn’t make things right, but when people would tell one not to do something it would only make one want to do it more. It’s the same concept with children, but you’re basically giving them the idea to own guns illegally.
