Along with being called Great Britain, it can also be called Britain, United Kingdom, or UK for short, and England, but in every country, there is loads to be discovered about.
The ancient history and culture in Britain was and still is very significant. Britain was involved in the Roman Empire. Many British cities were used as Roman military bases or civilian settlements. Also, by the end of the Roman empire christianity flourished in England. The Dark Ages were a period of time in Britain where no to little writings or evidence remains. It has three main land regions, the Pennies, which includes many mountains and slopes, the Southwest Peninsula, which is rugged and has many rocks, and the English lowlands, which has better soil for farming and is not as rainy or foggy. The Rivers england has are Tees, Thames, and Tyne that flow to the east. Great Britain largest lake is Lake District. It also has numerous offshore islands including the Isle of Scilly, the Isle of Man , and the Channel Islands. Many people can say that the climate in Britain involves lots of rain and fog. Although it rains a lot and is very foggy at sometimes, there is still many sunny days In the winter is it extremely cold and in the summer, it is blazing hot. The geography affects their daily lives because it can affect where they live (different regions etc.) or how they get to work. The Prime Minister is the head of the UK government. He is responsible for the operation of the Civil Service, which is a group of people that does the usual daily work of the government, and government agencies. He also appoints members of the government and is the principal figure of the House of Commons. The Cabinet is a group of twenty-one people that meet together every week to discuss important government issues and problems. There are also ninty-six other ministers who are responsible for the actions, success, and failures of their own particular department or group of people they represent.
England, unlike the US, has an official state religion. The Queen is the supreme head of the Church. Out of all England, 43% is anglicanism (protestant), 10% Catholic, and 10% part of another Protestant or Greek Orthodox. UK is the second largest Jewish populated country in Europe.
Much like us in the US, Great Britain is split up into three social classes, Upper Class, Middle Class, and Lower or Working Class. The Upper Class consists of wealthy people, and aristocrats families. The middle class is what the majority of the english people are in. Last but not least, the lower class consists of the agricultural, mine, and factory
