When looking for a spouse, it is important to know what qualities to look for. It is necessary to know what makes a good marriage partner. Kris Wolfe wrote an article outlining 30 characteristics that compose a "good guy". Among those characteristics the most important were to have integrity, to be able to listen, challenge one to become better, to have a good sense of humor, and have faith in God. Wolfe challenges men to become better by adopting the 30 characteristics, starting slowly and then incorporating more. "A good guy understands to overcome one's own self is better than competing and beating anyone else" (Wolfe). Two other ways a man can be a "good guy" is by being confident and having true friendships. Confidence is often overlooked as …show more content…
Wolfe implies that a man with confidence will also believe he deserves the best and will be strong in difficult times. Although the man may be more capable of remaining strong in difficult situations, confidence does not mean your problems well dissipate. Rather, having the confidence to tackle difficulties is meaningful. Not only having confidence in marriage but having confidence in good friends is also important. Cindy Wright from Marriage Missions talks about the importance of having good friends. Her article postulates that individuals should not settle for friends that will compromise Christian values and result in hurting one's marriage. Wright stresses the importance of good friendships, telling her own story of how Christ centered friends can salvage a marriage. "Even if it takes 20 years, it's a research worth preserving through" (Wright). Wright states that the friends worth waiting for will be willing to risk friendship in order to help their friend. Wright also reminds the reader that married couples must be wise in how much time they spend with friends (refer to Proverbs 25:17). It is important to choose a "good

Maybe since the grandmother is about to die, she wants to remember the good old days because she will have no more memories to make. For example, Red Sammy dwells on his dependency issues with people, “These days you don’t know who to trust” (O 'Connor 141). These three all believe that the past held better memories and there was an abundance of “good” men. The grandmother calls Red Sammy a “good man” just because at one time he was nice to a couple of men. In addition, the grandmother calls the Misfit a good man, perhaps because he would hate to have to kill her. It may be a man who does no harm to people. On the other hand, the grandmother simply believes a good man is any man whose views aligns with her
Friendship expectations play a huge role in “establishing, maintaining, and terminating friendships” thus playing a factor of ones’ interpretations and through their affiliations (West & Turner, 2016). A companionship is dependent on
“A Good Man Is Hard To Find” by Flannery O’Connor explores the complexity of human nature. The unnamed grandmother is a perfect example of how contradictory a person’s beliefs and standards can be. She is indirectly manipulative, yet she holds herself to a higher, purer standard than the other characters. Not to mention, the grandmother is not as she first appear, and she is stuck on the views of the past and how they apply to her as a lady, whether the views are correct or not.
When thinking of themselves as the good guys they keep from doing any wrong. Erik J. Wielenberg puts it best when he lists the rules of the good guys. He lists them as follows: "1. Don’t eat people. 2. Don’t steal. 3. Don’t lie. 4. Keep your promises. 5. Help others. 6. Never give up." (Wielenberg 4). All of these rules also have Biblical implications behind them. These rules are taught by the father to his son. Although the father does not always follow them.

Brockmeier’s short story represents a damaged marriage between a husband and a wife simply due to a different set of values and interests. Brockmeier reveals that there is a limit to love; husbands and wives will only go so far to continually show love for each other. Furthermore, he reveals that love can change as everything in this ever changing world does. More importantly, Brockmeier exposes the harshness and truth behind marriage and the detrimental effects on the people in the family that are involved. In the end, loving people forever seems too good to be true as affairs and divorces continually occur in the lives of numerous couples in society. However, Brockmeier encourages couples to face problems head on and to keep moving forward in a relationship. In the end, marriage is not a necessity needed to live life fully.

Everyone has different beliefs and ways to handle things, but in the end we all face issues that are not easy. These tasks, even the smallest of gestures can make a difference in a person’s life as Ed realizes that “big things are often just small things that are noticed”(Zusak 221).
There are certain characteristics and personalities that my mom and I agree on. One of the most important ones is being athletic or into sports. Supporting each other in sports is a major key to success in our minds of a perfect spouse. Going to the gym with each other or going to each other's sporting events allows us to spend quality time together with something we both love. Another personality trait that my mom and I agreed on is the perfect spouse needs to be loving. This is a key component in

What makes a good person good? According to WikiHow, "We should learn to define our own morals ourselves. One of the simplest ways to do so is to love others, and treat them as you would like to be treated. Try to think of others before yourself. Even doing small things daily will greatly enrich and improve your life, and the lives of others around you." This quote shows us what we need to do in order to be what society thinks as, “good". In order to be a good person, you have to do good and moral things in your society consistently. However people might think that by doing one good thing once in a while will automatically make you a “good person”, but in reality it doesn’t.
