Good Guy Characteristics

When looking for a spouse, it is important to know what qualities to look for. It is necessary to know what makes a good marriage partner. Kris Wolfe wrote an article outlining 30 characteristics that compose a "good guy". Among those characteristics the most important were to have integrity, to be able to listen, challenge one to become better, to have a good sense of humor, and have faith in God. Wolfe challenges men to become better by adopting the 30 characteristics, starting slowly and then incorporating more. "A good guy understands to overcome one's own self is better than competing and beating anyone else" (Wolfe). Wolfe implies that a man with confidence will also believe he deserves the best and will be strong in difficult times. Although the man may be more capable of remaining strong in difficult situations, confidence does not mean your problems well dissipate. Rather, having the confidence to tackle difficulties is meaningful. Not only having confidence in marriage but having confidence in good friends is also important. Cindy Wright from Marriage Missions talks about the importance of having good friends. Her article postulates that individuals should not settle for friends that will compromise Christian values and result in hurting one's marriage. Wright stresses the importance of good friendships, telling her own story of how Christ centered friends can salvage a marriage. "Even if it takes 20 years, it's a research worth preserving through" (Wright). Wright states that the friends worth waiting for will be willing to risk friendship in order to help their friend.
