Georgia prior to the twentieth century was stuck in a Russian hegemony along with its neighboring countries South Ossetia and Abkhazia. In 1918 Georgia was able to establish themselves as an independent state but that ended shortly after only three years when they were invaded by the Red Army. As of 1921 Georgia was incorporated as one of founding members of the USSR. From the 1930’s to late 50’s Georgians suffered under the leadership of Joesph Stalin and was forced to shift from a socialist to communist government. During this time period it is legitimate to say that Georgia was in a Second World state because it was under the control of the Soviet Union. But I will ultimately explain how after becoming its own nation has aloud this country …show more content…
The way I understood was by looking at which nation was the real powerhouse, which countries were going to decide what the rules of the world were. The Georgian Supreme Soviet realized that it definitely wasn’t USSR, they were completely dismantled after the Cold War. By realizing this they were vulnerable in that sense that they didn 't know what legitimate authority structure should be or consist of. Of course like any other strong but weak nation they turned to the Western Hemisphere for guidance thus implementing a representative democracy. It was through Constructivism that Zviad Gamsakoverall was able to lead the the pro-independence movement receiving a 93% majority vote for Georgian independence. After the Cold War because there was no more USSR someone like Gamsakoverall was able to come in and say these are the rules of world and we as a country are establishing what our ‘political norm’ should and will …show more content…
Religion wise it is a Muslim based country but because of European aid Orthodox Christianity was heavily influenced. We see a social clash within the people who want to identify with the only the Middle East but according to their President Giorgi Margvelashvili,” We do really connect the Caspian area, the Asian area, with the Black Sea area, with the European area. And we have been doing so for centuries” (A Conversation With Giorgi Margvelashvili, 2015.) I believe that because Georgia is trying so hard to become a part of the First World they are failing to fix the social issues with in their nation. The US Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor reports,” Significant shortcomings in the administration of justice, including pressure on the judiciary in selected cases, questionable judicial appointments, inconsistent government responses to violence or abuse, incomplete investigations, premature charging of suspects, and inappropriate use of pretrial detention; and insufficient government efforts to combat societal discrimination against women, members of ethnic, religious, and sexual minorities, and persons with disabilities.” For a country that is trying to identify with the West they fail to truly oblige to these social international norms that the First World has establish. That is why I believe although it is considered Second World you can see the gray area that can consider

The start of the Georgia colony was an attempt of the king to enhance the wealth of the homeland. King George II of England, approved a charter in 1732 that established the Georgia colony with control and authority entrusted to twenty-one trustees. The charter signed by the king was to give England’s worthy poor a new life, enhance the wealth of England by cultivating and producing raw goods to be sent back to England for profit, and to make Georgia a buffer colony to protect South Carolina against the Spanish, Indian enemies, and others that were not allies of the English (Doc D). In 1733, under the command of General James Oglethorpe, roughly one hundred and fourteen settlers landed in the town of Savannah to start the new colony of Georgia (Doc C). This included a few colonists who were not indebted to the trustees and therefore may not have had the loyalty that the nonpayers were inclined to have. Based on the details defined in the Charter of 1732 which were charity, economics, and defense the question is asked was the Georgia colony a success or failure? In my belief, the new colony of Georgia was a failure because the objectives listed in the charter
Moving forward from the Industrial Revolutions, the course emphasized World War I, as a truly world-redefining war. Stromberg may argue that the First World War was devastating and then arbitrarily move on to the next period in history, which was the rise of Communism and Fascism, but through the lecture we see the connection. “Communism and Fascism were the two big movements out of WWI” (6/1). As the lecture explains, World War I produced many extremist ideas, and the reason for these extremist ideas was the problems the world identified inherently from the conditions it was left in after the war. The role of communism and fascism did not end here though, its impact continued until after the Second World War and led to giving fuel to decolonization. In isolation, we may treat the two wars as having impact on each nation individually, the truth is far from that, and many nations leaned on common ideas in order to decolonize. “Class, religion and race were all forms of identity that transcended national borders, and movements of national independence drew from international movements” (6/3). The highlighted idea being “international movements. From this we understand that the big story was that imperially ruled nations wanted to decolonize and start anew as independent world. The big story, is not, as Stromberg may have us believe that each nation, in isolation, worked on
“The Sources of Soviet Conduct” Foreign Affairs, 1947, explains the difficulty of summarizing Soviet ideology. For more than 50 years, the Soviet concept held the Russian nations hypnotized, discontented, unhappy, and despondent confined to a very limited Czarist political order. Hence, the rebel support of a bloody Revolution, as a means to “social betterment” (Kennan, 567). Bolshevism was conceptualized as “ideological and moral, not geopolitical or strategic”. Hoover declares that… “five or six great social philosophies were struggling for ascendancy” (Leffler, The Specter of Communism, 20).
Campbell County, Kentucky offers a very interesting case study of politics at work. The many different variables that can possibly affect how counties as a whole vote are present in Campbell County, and the interplay between all these variables is the topic of this paper. In order to accurately predict the outcome of the election, it is important to be familiar with all the different socio-economic factors that influence the daily lives of the people who are pulling the levers in the voting booths. This paper will give a brief description of Campbell County, followed by a survey of how they have voted in the past eight Presidential Elections. The best kind of presidential candidates for this county will be discussed, the results of the 1996 Presidential Elections, as well as what the different parties are doing in Campbell County in order to achieve better results. As a result of the analysis that was required for this paper, I will show sufficient evidence to support my conclusion that George W. Bush will win Campbell County over Al Gore by a margin of 54% - 44%.

Therefore, in 1800s all the five civilizer tribes are Choctaws, Creeks, Chickasaws, Seminoles and Cherokee wanted to adopt European ways of living for them to survive within white culture. The way of adopting white culture was, they invited Moravian missionaries in to their community in 1801. Missionaries taught them the ways white did agriculture, domestic arts, and taught them how to speak English, read, and pushed for them to believe in Christianity. Then from that moment, the tribes invented their own written language and adopted a constitutional government modeled after the United State Constitution. However, with these entire struggles it does not make any difference to the State of Georgia.
Tennessee vs Garner( Gillenwater, 2015) was a pivotal case for the state of Tennessee and police department procedures for the use of deadly force in apprehending suspects.
Throughout the middle of the 1900’s, decolonization was flooding the globe. Many third world countries were growing tired of living in the shadow of the super powers of the world. The time of imperialism was ending and freedom of all states was on the rise. However, this freedom did not come without sacrifice due to the controlling empire’s refusal to let go. Many countries had bloodshed due to fighting for their freedom. However, some, such as the French, released countries without a fight (p. 23-24). As the super powers began to come across other issues, the colonized countries began to seek independence. An important ordeal that occurred during the twentieth century was the cold war. The cold war enhanced the will for decolonization by driving
...influence within the space of the former Soviet Union a determining aspect in the future of Russian statehood. The entities surrounding the Caspian Sea are also the focus of many vital economic prospects which would contribute to Russia’s hegemony over the Southern Tier region. In a textbook example of neo-imperialism Russia has covered all its bases included the impending threat of enemies resulting from Moscow’s political and economic exploitation. Russia has proved that it will use any means possible such as military conquest and political and economic hegemony to its advantage to extend its control over the territory, political systems and economic profits of the nations forming the Caucasus. The Russian government has certainly demonstrated its resurgent imperial ability and resolute determination to ultimately see the reemergence of a powerful Russian empire.
Georgia has always been a state where family values and community issues are important in our society. Many people that live in the southern United States have always been historically for conservative and or republican based values, this typically involves as christan background and faith which therefore the people of Georgia would not support because most people are Christians. Also there is a code of natural law that must be taken into consideration with regards to legalizing gay marriage in Georgia. The last and final issue that must be looked at by the state is how they impose their rights to society based off of influential media. Overall Georgian’s should not legalize gay marriage in our state, because gay marriage violates natural law, it destroys our states level of morality and conservatism, and it the gay community tries to impose its level of acceptance upon our society.

... In conclusion, the chaos that was encountered by the Soviet Union together with the ideas the new leaders brought to enlighten Eastern Europe about communism. This made the countries understand their freedom and rights through the Glasnot. The collapse of the Soviet Union led to the freedom and independence of many Soviet states. They were no longer a world super power and with the difficulties it faced economically, politically and socially, led to its own downfall.
In the United States, more than one in three women live in poverty or on the brink of it (Patron, 2014). The current federal poverty level starts at $16,020 for a family of two, $20,160 for a family of 3, and so on at increments of slightly more than $4,000 for each additional family member (Buteau, 2007). There are 106 million people in the United States that have incomes below 200 percent of the federal poverty level, or are low-income. About 42 million of these low-income individuals are women and 28 million are their children (Patron, 2014). This phenomenon of the disproportionate rate of the population’s poor being women is known as the feminization of poverty.
