George Washington is perhaps the most widely known American president in the world. Although he is most known for becoming the first American president, and other things such as his alleged ivory teeth, there are many things George Washington accomplished both before and after his presidency. Washington’s life was extremely eventful and greatly impacted the way he led the nation. He created the standards and guidelines from which American presidency was born, shaped the constitution, and helped guided America to where it is now in the 21st century. George ended his retirement and presided over the Constitutional Convention, aimed at creating a government with real authority that did not face the same issues as the Confederation Congress. After this convention, George rallied for months for support of this new form of government. After it was ratified, he became the first president every to be unanimously appointed. George Washington organized the executive branch of government, appointed an astute cabinet, and led the nation with fairness, integrity and justice. Although by no means was Washington a perfect president, he did set the example for years to come in many areas of politics. George served out the rest of his presidency faithfully, and handled many things incredibly well considering he had no reference for his presidency. During his second term he dealt with foreign affairs, international wars and influenced policies for centuries after him. His presidency was marked with achievements such as ending the Indian war, getting Britain to surrender forts in the Northwest, as well as the Mississippi being opened by the Spain for American commerce. Washington died on December 14th, 1799. In his will he called for all of his slaves to be freed and privately opposed slavery. He is the only known president to free all of his
