Friendship in “Of Mice and Men”
Friendship nowadays is not as it used to be, it used to be going to the movies with a couple friends or riding bikes down the street. Nowadays it’s almost like a competition of who has more Facebook friends or more Instagram followers. Today Friendship is different than it was during the time the characters George and Lennie in the novel "Of Mice and Men"
In the short story “Friendship in the Age of Economics” the author, Todd May, talked about how important your relationship with your friends can be. In this story, it says “There is much that might be said about friendship” (May 2). It also said, "In our lives, however, few of us have entirely forgotten about the third- true friendship"(May 2). In "Of Mice and Men " they show true friendship, and true friendship isn't always perfect, in the book "Of Mice and Men' Lennie and George have an argument of whether or not Lennie had picked up a dead mouse. Even small arguments like this don’t affect a true friendship. George said "Good boy! That's fine, Lennie! When we get a couple acres I can let you tend to the rabbits all right." When you can have these kinds of conversations with your friends you can tell that they will stay with you for a long time after.
