Perception is the ability to see, hear, or become aware of something through the senses. When we meet people for the first time we tend to have mixed emotions about a person both positive and negative. We tend to stereotype people for the way they look, act, and who they hang out with. As people we should think about the way we act and react to people and other things. Put yourself in other people’s shoes and see where they are coming from. In an episode of the show The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, season three, episode fifteen I noticed perception. In the episode Phil Banks is a judge and he takes his nephew Will to work with him. I think that because Luther was an ex convicted felon, the Banks family had just assumed Luther robbed them. Just like when Janet assumed Sarah was ignoring her email, in reality Sarah was out of town and never seen the email. In cases like these two people always jump to conclusions instead of looking around at what is actually happening. This is poor communication because we react in a bad way and have no evidence to back up why or what we think of a certain situation. Luther’s past actions make you want to judge him as a person. After finding out that he had no involvement with the robbery makes you feel bad. You shouldn’t judge people on there past, but instead try to find the good in people. Ted Bundy’s story refers to interpersonal impressions; a nice charming person can be just a cover up and turn out to be a whole different person. When we see and talk to someone we make up how we think they are as a person but overtime we see the real side of people. Phil Banks assistant was a nice, charming, respectful and well cleaned up man. He was nice to everyone in the law office and did his job well. As a person you would think Edward is a trustworthy person. Little did the Banks know he robbed them because he did not like working for Phil
