Profit motive is the reason most businesses exist today. Profit motive defines itself. It is the simple idea that the goal of all businesses is to make profit. Today, one of the best examples of profit motive in my opinion is college. In order to obtain any decent job today you must have contributed to the economy by purchasing a 60,000 dollar worth paper called a diploma. But that's just the small picture; because in the end the goal is that you'll have a job that provides you with just the right amount of income. Having the right amount of income can slowly direct you to fulfilling individual happiness. Human wellbeing maiming depends on the economy and because of that humans allow the economy to become the master. Bobby Scott
I did my own survey because I was interested in how many people actually work at their institutions just for the income. 15 out of 20 people admitted to working just for an income and when asked why they said cost of living is too high. They are bound to a job they hate just so they can be able to spend money in this economy. For many people the deposit they receive every two weeks seems to triumph all their hardships. Of course money isn't always everything, but when measuring our national success as a country it is the only thing people consider. The government uses income to judge the economic well-being of its people. Believing that the more money people make the more money they will spend. People tend to spend more money on better food, clothing, housing, and medical care which are all factors that contribute to helping the economy. So of course our society is going to stress on college because it promotes in better jobs which means better pay leading its people to spend more
I was given a contract, I was put on a salary, and even received good healthcare. I was ecstatic and I couldn't believe that I finally took the first big step in my life. Although after a while I began to spend more money on unnecessary things. Getting my nails done every week, getting my hair done at nicer salons, eating out more and buying nicer clothes. I called it "treating myself". I only began to realize when people started pointing it out to me. But I didn't care because all these things I was spending money on made me feel good and brought me happiness. Seeming a little shallow at the time I soon realized that I was a servant to my own economy. I was providing business with more money. Bobby Scott’s idea of not being able to compete in our economy without a college degree is a prime example of economy is a master of human well-being. It's almost as if our generation is forced upon going to school because society instilled an idea that without it you will be unsuccessful. The economy controls and influences people daily decisions, because everyone knows how competitive it is out there
