Sea Wolf
Wolf Larsen was a character in the book who never made it all the way
through the book, but he tried very hard. He was a very strong, brutal man
with almost no respect for human life. With all the people in the world,
one dead person meant nothing to him. He was a patient man and usually
kept himself under control. He was surprisingly smart and thoughtful for a
pirate who lives on the sea. He loved the sea and knew many things about
it, such as how to outwit his brother when he came near Wolf's boat.
Humphrey Van Weydon, or Hump as he was called on the boat, was a
landlubber. He had a very comfortable job, and very soft skin showing how
soft his life had been. He had barely any muscles and lived a very
pampered living. He was a gentleman and very proper. Being proper, he was
very intelligent and had a very extensive vocabulary. He seemed very
surprised when he realized Wolf and he both shared some vocabulary words
and meanings. Hump wasn't used to living on a boat, but he soon learned to
live on one. He became accepted on the boat with the crew.
Wolf and Hump were very different people with few similarities. Wolf
was very strong and bullied everyone around. He believed everyone was
insignificant, while Hump was nice, proper and believed everyone was unique
and we all should live and that one person can make a big difference and
change in the world. Wolf also tried to turn Hump into a strong man, since
Hump was a wimp in everyone's eye on the boat. Wolf had one disadvantage
though, during his voyages, he read many books, but was never able to say
what he read or really talk about anything he read. When Hump came along,
they shared and exchanged knowledge and each learned new things about the
books they read.
One scene that stands out the most from the book was when Wolf Larsen
was engaged in a battle with his brother. Wolf played Hide-N- Seek with
his brother behind fog on the seas for a long time.
Placerville played its roll in California’s history like many other gold rush towns. It was a supply station for many minors and at one point was one of the third largest cities in California. Many people came to Placerville to find gold just like any other gold rush town but because of the placer gold deposits many struck it rich there. The first miner’s court assembled on January 22, 1849 in Placerville. Placerville had a high crime rate and started miners with theses miner’s courts. These helped form a sense of justice in most mining camps. Placerville was a supply for all the cities around it during the gold rush and was also one of the third largest cities in the beginning of the gold rush. Placerville may not have had the biggest impact on all of California but it was still a present factor.

An English naturalist Charles Darwin (1802-1882) developed a theory of biological evolution. He studied variation in plants and animals during his five years’ voyage around the world in the 19th century. Darwin studied hundreds of species, which he researches variations between locations. His theory states that all species of organism arise and develop through natural selection. Natural selection is the process of organisms that adapt to their surrounding environment, which tend to survive and produce more offspring. Killer whales are remarked to have evolutionary links from land dwelling organisms, millions of years ago. This paper will display the evolution and natural selection of the killer whale.
Blackbeard was one of the most feared pirates in history, because he was a ferocious and fearless man who took over many ships in his years of being a pirate. He wasn’t a good man but he was good at what he did. There was some information that was unsure of because of the time period, but there are many interesting facts about him.
Renal transplant is a surgical treatment for end stage renal disease. Normally theses transplants are obtained by deceased donors, which are limited and require a close match between blood and tissue type (preferably a twin or family member). Transplant rejection occurs when transplanted tissue is rejected by the recipient's Immune system, which destroys the transplanted tissue. Transplant rejection can be lessened by determining the molecular similitude between donor and recipient and by use of immunosuppressant drugs after transplant.
In Chinese tradition, Shark fin soup is called as “a celebration soup”, which people eat it to celebrate in various occasions. Moreover, people also believed that shark fin consisted of diverse nutrition values which provide them virility, wealth, and power(Wolchover, 2011). These beliefs lead to the beginning of poaching for sharks, the top of food chain in the sea world. Surprisingly, although people are aware of the decreasing number of sharks since the old days, around hundred million of sharks are still hunted each year(Heltus, 2013), to be served on luxury tables surrounded by those believers in things that they do not even prove whether the belief is reliable. Therefore, in the generation that people are mostly educated, sharks should no longer have to be continuously killed for their fins.
In conclusion, enforcing gun laws would not be the best solution in reducing violence in the United States. Educating people and telling them to always contact police if they cannot handle a situation is always the best option. Guns provide protection and can save a family from a home break in or protect a store owner late at night from robbers who may threaten him or her for money. Not only are guns protected in the constitution, but they are also a part of the American tradition.
Whales are perhaps by far the most mysterious creatures of the deep blue. It is not that we do not know much about the whales; rather, it is the reasons behind the ways that they act and communicate that we do not yet understand. Their ways of life have been researched in the past and present. Many speculations have been made as to why they do what they do, but the speculations themselves have speculations. Everyone has their own opinion but an opinion is not enough to unravel the mysteries behind a personality.
Killer whales live in almost every ocean. Though they are often found in cold, coastal waters, killer whales can be found from the polar regions to the Equator. The killer whale is a carnivor. These different groups may prey on different animals and use different techniques to catch them. Killer whales hunt in deadly pods which consist of family groups of up to 40 individuals. They feast on marine mammals such as seals, sea lions, and even other whales. There are two kinds of Killer whales, the resident and the transient. Resident pods prefer fish, while transient pods catch marine mammals. All pods use effective, cooperative hunting techniques that some liken to the behavior of wolf packs . While hunting like wolves, killer whales could surround a school of salmon and even overwhelm a larger whale (National Geographic). One killer whale was even reported to have even traveled some 177 km up the Columbia River in search of fish In the Arctic, killer whales eat about 67% fishe, 27% marine mammals and 6% squid. In the Bering Sea near Alaska, they eat about 65% fishe, 20% squids and 15% marine mammals (Marine Bio).
In the United States alone, there are more than 500 dolphins and members of the dolphin family held in captivity; equally thousands have died in captivity. Today, dolphins are kept captive in amusement parks, "Swim With Dolphins" programs, casinos and sometimes even shopping malls. Many people enjoy watching them perform in shows or even interacting with them in aquatic parks, but most people lack the understanding of the trauma dolphins suffer in through being captured and transported, and the often cruel conditions in which they are kept. The process of capture and the conditions in which dolphins are kept are cruel and unnatural, and can be stopped by educating the public about the significant cost of this industry to the health and life of the dolphin species, and convincing the public to not buy tickets to the different events that captive dolphins are involved in.

Whales are some of the ocean’s most fascinating amphibious beings. They possess highly acquired communication skills and are believed to have an intelligence level equal to, and in some species, surpass that of the human brain. The biological, anthropological, and marine educational communities have studied the whale in a way that sheds light onto the studies of evolution as well. Yet, there are industries that subject these animals to captivity, hindering the natural development of these animals. Of all the communities contributing to the protection and study of the whale, there is one tipping the scale towards exploiting it for profit: The entertainment industry.
It's been an interesting last.. Hmm? 40 years I would say, for the Sea Otter. Sea otters, are a
Its hard to believe that the large elegant marine mammals we know today, were once land dwelling creatures. Whales have been forever evolving just like humans. What is evolution? Evolution is the process by which different kinds of living organisms are thought to have developed and diversified from earlier forms during the history of the earth (Mueller, Aug. 2010). Every living organism has evolved at one point or another. Whales have evolved from a land animal into an animal that lives only in the ocean.
...e lead to ingratitude towards God" from the beginning of the epic (Weber 25). Although Satan is a great warrior and can give wonderful speeches, he seems to be hypocritical of what he tells his followers he believes and what he really does. An example of this is when we are first introduced to Satan. Satan and the other fallen angels are in hell and Satan tells the others to not be frightened, when he is frightened as well.
