Freak the Mighty is about a strong bond between two boys. The movie version The Mighty shows a lot of Max and Freaks adventures. The book Freak the Mighty has many differences with its movie adaptation The Mighty, including how they met, Max’s kidnapping, and Freaks death. The first difference between the movie is how Max and Freak met. In the book, they met when Max went over to Kevin's house across the street to say hello since Kevin, and his mom was new to the neighborhood. At first, Kevin frightened Max by yelling at him. Max goes over to Kevin's house again later. When Max arrives, he helps Kevin get his ornithopter out of the tree. Kevin then goes over to Max’s house, and they talk until Kevin's mom comes over to get him. In the movie, Max and Kevin live next door to each other, and at night Kevin is flying his ornithopter and Freak does scare Max away. In school, the next day Freak is …show more content…

The book deals with it better because they have a scene where Freak is in the hospital, and him and Max have a conversation about Max writing down the adventures they had together; Max didn’t get to respond before he was rushed out of the room by the doctors. Then next day Max goes to the hospital and finds out Freak passed away. In the movie, there is no conversation between Max and Freak. You just see Max and Freak go home and then it goes to the next morning where there are ambulances outside of Freaks house. When Max finds out his reaction is worse in the movie and he proceeds to run in front of A SEMI TRUCK. He does not get hit he just disturbs traffic. Then the medical research place Freak had told him of was a laundry mat.
