A journey from the Classical Era to the Modern Era Francesco Attesti solo piano recital was performed the fourth of February at seven thirty at night, in the theater of Valencia College at the East Campus. It was sponsored by the Valencia College’s Osceola Campus in conjunction with the Valencia College's East Campus Music Department and the Humanities Speakers Series. Mr. Attesti is a famous Italian pianist that has performed in some of the most prominent concert halls in the world. He played the piano at the age of six and performed his first concert when he was eleven year old. Mr. Attesti wants to convey the evolution of music from the Classical era to the Contemporary era. Chopin’s composition “Ballade Op. 23 n.1 in G minor” is a one-movement piece. Ballades are considered one of the most demanding pieces in the standard piano repertoires. In this ballade one can identify the sad mood of the melody created by the fact that the composer was sad and depressed. He was living along in a city far from his home land due to a war against his homeland Poland from Russia. He concluded the Romantic era with “Intermezzo Op. 118 n. 2 in A major” a composition from Johannes Brahms. This short dramatic melody composed with a Fugue and characterized by the variations in rhythm and meter due the interest of the composer on Baroque music. The journey though time ends with a composition from an Italian contemporary composer. The composer Fabio Mengozzi is a very dear friend of Mr. Attesti, as he mentioned to the audiences. His composition “Oltrepassando il valico” is a very smooth melody with a slow tempo. The wisdom one gain about music history cannot be measure. I was intrigue for the fact that the program included a brief note about each composer and special requests to the audiences. Most of the requests encompassed a series of etiquette guidelines to educate the audience. For instance, one needed to avoid things that may distract the performances. One need to avoid doing anything that creates noise or distracts the pianist and the audience during the performance, including talking, whispering, and cell phone texting. One can be appreciated of the fact that Mr. Attesti gave a brief explanation of each composer and their compositions. I was very fortunate for the opportunity to see and listen a world-famous pianist. I will love to attend others recital and
