Recommended: Aftermath of the American Revolution

Bankruptcy, incineration of homes, incarceration, and death: these are only a few of the many hardships met by our Founding Fathers, and yet, none wavered. At a turning point in history, the 56 men were willing to take initiative and sacrifice their own personal comforts for the betterment of their countrymen and nation. As exemplary leaders, they formed the backbone of our United States. The attributes of our Founding Fathers illustrate characteristics necessary for the advancement of our nation in our generation. For these reasons, the sacrifices made are not only relevant, but they are the key to everlasting success and diplomatic authority as a young citizen of this United States. Similar to a pearl in an oyster, the Founding Fathers forced changes that were essential in revealing the true beauty of our country. …show more content…

However, in 1776, after the signing of the Declaration of Independence, this date brought forth a different set of repercussions. The 56 signers pledged their lives for the cause of independence. This desired independence produced the Revolutionary war. “Lives, fortunes, and sacred honor” (Sabo 2016) were put at serious risk for the hope of a new nation. Hardships faced included: fights in battles, captures and imprisonments, desecration of property, and the loss of fortune. The price of freedom for some was their lives. Thomas Jefferson wrote, “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness” (Dickerson 2012), encompassed what our Founding Fathers clung to and fought to protect. Through their convictions, we have gained insight into the vast possibilities we can unlock.Their sacrifices are pertinent to our culture because we have our own set of battles being waged right here in our society.
