Federal Law Enforcement agencies have a ray of different areas that are specific to ones career base. There’s such a broad variety of Federal Law Enforcement with names that are not always well known. When people think about Federal Law Enforcement Agencies or Departments the first one’s to come to mind are U.S. Marshals or FBI. Some other agencies are the Naval Criminal Investigative Services (NCIS) and the Railroad Retirement Board, Office of Inspector General. Naval Criminal Investigative Services also known as NCIS is a very wide department with a lot of areas to cover. This is with concrete, conceivable, or even suspected acts of terrorism, sabotage, or assassination of people in the Navy. Sometimes the agencies jurisdiction overlaps with another federal law enforcement agency especially with deal with personal or ex personal everywhere even overseas. There are times where “the agency has to communicate with foreign law enforcement agencies and security services on a daily basis” (“NCIS FAQs” 2016). Also, some offenses that involve people of the navy are in areas where state or even local authorities have the lead on the investigation jurisdiction so the NCIS engages with their partner agencies. This is only when it involves their navy personal. When you look at all the work and investigations there is a head of the agency named Andrew L. Traver. He is also known as NCIS Director, Mr. Traver. The NCIS is not a small agency, in fact, there are composed of “almost 2,000 professionals on staff in more than 40 countries” (LEO Pulse 2013-2016). In the Department of the Navy, there are nearly over 1,200 Special Agents along with more than 900 other civilian professionals and plus 200 military members that work around the country. They are all spread out across many places in order to do the job they need to do to protect the United States. With qualifications, there are almost always disqualifications. Some of those are; not having any incidents of felonies, financially responsible and pass a credit check, you have to be emotionally stable, be able to pass a background check, and can not be dishonorably discharged from U.S armed forces etc. This Naval Investigative Service has many different cases they have to deal with that are a high risk that is why they have to have such strict qualifications and
