It is extremely exciting that you want to come to the United States; it truly is a great place to live. However, there are a couple of subjects that you and I need to discuss, so you are not completely lost when you arrive. So the things that I will discuss and better help you understand are the family cultures in the United States, what community means and the effect it has on others around, how technology affects everyday living here, the social media, educational system and the environment, and finally the relation between self and others. First, the family culture here in the United States and how vastly different it is from China. Both countries have a wide spectrum of both poor and rich communities. However, here in the United States, there are many factors that go into a community and it is not just money. Although money does play a very important role, ethnicity is also a leading factor in the creation of communities around the United States. The poorer communities are far worse off in that they just do not have money that they can actually spend, or not having enough money to properly teach the children in those areas. Also, the less fortunate are struck by a shocking increase of violence stemming from drug trade crimes that the rich community does not see. Thus sucking in most children into gangs since they have little to no schooling and cannot find a job, but also making it easy to make money and help provide for the family. Now for the rich, they not only have the boarding school, like China, the rich also have what is called networking which is what ultimately land the children jobs in the future. In the book Our Kids the American Dream In Crisis, by Robert D. Putnam. He explains how the American Dream is hard to achieve in modern society and the difference between rich and poor. It is a great read to better understand what has happened to the United States over the past sixty years as technology has gotten more
