The Time of Great Change

The 1960’s was a great time of change and we have come a long way with the changes that occurred. The people who were involved in the 1960’s way of change were the Hippies presidents, politicians, protesters, and the soldiers. The reasons the 1960’s changed our society today are we learned to respect the vets. Presidents and innocent people were assassinated and that devastated people. And that the soul of our nation has been deeply wounded from the war. All of this society changing was taking place in the 1960’s. This occurred in places like vietnam and during the Vietnam war. This was a time of change and has affected our lives today.
The first way the 1960’s changed our society is we learned to respect the vets. “No one wanted to hear what the vets had been through.” When the vets would come back and the people saw them the would spit on they vets. The would also shout “murderer” or ask “why were you stupid enough to go?” If any vet came home blind or missing an arm or a leg then people would yell “Served you right” They people didn’t like the fact that they vets went to the vietnam war because they were against the war or maybe they had a family member or a friend who was drafted in …show more content…

“The murders of civil rights activists as well as innocent children” One reason we were affected in a negative way was because innocent people died. Some of our great leaders have died because of the war. The people who were assassinated were they Reverend King, President John F. Kennedy, Black Muslim leader Malcolm X, His brother Bobby Kennedy,But we were also affected in a positive way. They race between the soviets and U.S. to the moon was going on and we won with Neil Armstrong being the first man on the moon. Today we understand that we have made great accomplishments and that we have lost great people but we have found that we have good leaders
