Charles Griffin Mr. Carrothers American History 10 March 2017 President Trump’s Executive Orders President Donald J. Trump has issued 15 executive orders according to The White House website. Many of which are concerning The United States of America’s government, economics, military, public safety, and world relations. I will be explaining an executive order President Donald J. Trump signed concerning the budget regarding U.S. military funding. I will be comparing this executive order by President Donald J. Trump to militarism that was discussed in Ch. 9 with Mr. Justus. Nowadays, countries are so advanced and have powerful allies. Shifting some funding to ensure that U.S. soldiers are getting efficient training and equipment does not mean the United States of America is looking for a fight, it means that the U.S. is trying to be prepared for a fight if our country is attacked. The U.S. is only trying to give our country a fighting chance against other countries and when we are ahead of other countries in training, weapons, ect. we will try and stay ahead of others to ensure the safety of the United States of America. Trump also is trying to hold onto his running slogan. “We’re going to build a wall.” This was what President Donald J. Trump ran on and was a large reason he won the election. Though the wall is a new idea it is a perfect example of isolationism. When President Donald J. Trump says he wants to build a wall he is saying he wants to block off America and Mexico. America and Mexico has always had a touchy relationship and America’s policy on the matter has changed so much and so often it’s hard to keep track of what is what. From mass deportations to blatant racism. According to npr.org “During the 1930s and into the 1940s, up to 2 million Mexicans and Mexican-Americans were deported or expelled from cities and towns across the U.S. and shipped to Mexico. According to some estimates, more than half of these people were U.S. citizens, born in the United States.” This is similar to what President Donald J. Trump wants to do with deporting 11 million immigrants and build a wall to limit immigration and illegals.
