The word inequality has been continually growing for many generations now in the United States since it has first been colonized. It started back in the early 1600s when the first African American slaves were introduced to slavery in Jamestown, to the banning of Muslims in 2017 by executive orders of the president. Inequality has been a hate crime to the people of religion, race, color, income class, culture, any sort of groups that could be created to be prejudice about. Now in today’s generation, Americans have the opportunity to share their opinions to the world about anything on social networks. These groups include all cultures with the exception of Caucasians living in America, such as African-Americans, Hispanics, Muslims and etc.. One example of inequality would be from Melvin Oliver and Thomas Shapiro’s argument about how African-Americans don't have the same opportunities as the whites do when it comes to dealing with finances and borrowing money. Their argument says, “Blacks are rejected for mortgages 60% more often than whites, even when they have the same qualifications and creditworthiness. When blacks to receive mortgages, they are most likely to take “subprime” mortgage loans that charge much higher interest rate” (Giddens, Duneier, Appelbaum and Carr: 198). The statistics lead to a negative misinterpretation of black people in the U.S. when problems like these are dealt with in society. A web article organization states its opinion on a Facebook post that they read, they said: "discovered notable examples of blatant bias, misinterpretations of facts and poorly substantiated claims about particular acts violence” (Donaldson). Since these issues have caused negative diversity, social network accounts like Twitter has put up a campaign to stop the abuse of free speech that is spoken or written on social networks. In the article of Fox 12 Oregon, Twitter states that “The company said Tuesday that it has begun identifying people who have been banned for abusive behavior and it will stop them from creating new accounts” (Ortutay). The purpose to create the new idea is to keep a safe environment for Twitter is to minimize all the social negative abuse that goes on the internet to the real world. Like it says in the reading, “being able to connect with anyone in the world who has similar interests may mean that one’s own community becomes less important” (Giddens el al. 2017: 198). The quote answers the question of growing existing inequalities, the more the hatred on social networks, the more it goes viral
