Childhood Catastrophe As a child I suffered an event that framed my life, a catastrophe that would change my life at least temporarily. This catastrophe changed things all around me, things in my family changed and things at home changed ever since that day. I remember we were all exited, we were going on a family vacation to different regions of Colombia. We were traveling thought all the beautiful places and cities in the country. During our vacation, one day we stopped at a restaurant in a small town. As we were eating, my 16-year-old cousin said to me hurry up, finish your meal and we’ll go play outside. I was a little boy just turned six years. I was excited to go play outside with my cousin, so I was the first one to finish with my meal. I love soccer, I have played the sport for as long as I remember. I and my cousin headed outside of the restaurant to play soccer, my cousin passed me the ball and as I was going to kick it back to him, I wanted to show him how hard I could kick the ball, but me, as a little boy, had no control, and the ball ended up going to the other side of the street. Cousin looked right and left of the street and said with a high tone, “Go get the ball-hurry.” As soon as I heard him. I ran crossing the street and got the ball. My dad explained to me that my femur was broken and that I have to wear a cast until it heals. But something was not right in my leg, I felt it, it still hurt like it was out of place. My dad took me to the doctor and told him that the surgery that was done to me was not right, the bones didn’t connect to each other. They had to perform two more surgeries on my leg to make it right. One surgery to take the bone out from where it was and other one right way to connect it and to let it heal
