Have you ever been to a bible camp before? SMBC (Spring Mill Bible Camp) is a Christian bible camp in Mitchell, Indiana. This year was the first year I had gone to SMBC. I wanted to go to camp so badly, and had been looking forward to it since the second we decided I’d go. I’m already close with God, but I wanted to know more and more. I wanted to go to meet new people and make new friends. My mom and my sister took me to camp. They helped me setup my bed, and shortly after they dropped me off, they had to leave. We said our goodbyes, and they were gone. I didn’t know one person there, so after they left, I walked over to the carpet ball table. There were probably about 4-5 kids at the carpet ball table. During freetime, you can play carpet ball, tetherball, basketball, wiffle ball, play on the playground, talk, sleep, whatever you wanted pretty much. It was during freetime that I made even more friends, Ivan and Clayton. Julia, LIzzy, Clayton, Ivan, and I usually played carpetball or tetherball together at freetime. Next, the camp director, Larry, would call us over the intercom to meet at a certain spot for a short bible lesson. After the short lesson, we had quiet time. During quiet time, you go anywhere you want on the camp and have about 15 minutes alone with God. You could pray, study the bible, whatever you wanted. I prayed the full 15 minutes of quiet time. As you already know, we had freetime/KP, followed with more singing and a bible lesson. After the third bible lesson, we would divide the boys and girls up and separately, we’d talk about the lesson. As soon as our lesson talk was over, we’d have family time. Family time is where you’re put into a group of about 10 people to be your “family.” With your family, you would pray, talk about your day, and get to know each other. The people’s age in your family varied. My family came up with this thing called “High Low HIgh.” “High Low High” was where you say a high point of your day (something good) and then a low point (something bad) and then back to a high point. After family time came a night activity. Night activities included zombie tag, a campfire, capture the counselor, etc. After the night activity, you would go back to your cabin to get ready for bed. Lights out was at midnight. After lights out, you go to sleep and do the same routine the next
