Evolutionary Creation: Merging Scripture and Science

After reading over Lamoureux’s I Love Jesus & I accept evolution, as well as listening to the lessons in class, I have come to find that I believe in Evolutionary Creation. This is one of the teleological evolutionary approaches which mean it “…is a planned and purposeful natural process that heads toward a final outcome – the intended creation of life.” (3) Evolutionary Creation does this by merging Scripture and science “Together they fulfil each other; alone they are incomplete. Scientific discoveries reveal how the creator made this spectacular design-reflecting world, while the Bible declares precisely who created it – The God of Christianity.” (30)
The messages of the Bible are still relevant for the lessons that are taught using this approach. The Lord teaches us lessons using information and science of our level in order to get his points across. God knew the people had noticed a pattern of a sun in the sky during the day and gone at night and so explained this phenomenon in a way that would get his message across in a way that we could see, since we did not have the science to test this. There is also information presented in the ways that we can study the earth and what is left on our earth that explain evolution in a way that I feel like is undeniable. Examples of evolution can be seen in fossils, of layers deposited on the earth, of radiometric dating, and the Mid-Atlantic ridge. All of these different evidences lead us to believe in an old earth.
