Similarities and Differences among Good and Bad Drivers According to SmartMotorist.com, over 95% of all vehicle accidents are caused by driver errors. No matter what the causes are, most of these accidents could be prevented by the drivers if they drove responsibly. These drivers often try and blame the other parties involved in the incidents, failing to acknowledge their own poor driving habits. To change poor driving habits, one must first acknowledge what poor driving habits they possess. In this essay, I will explain the similarities among skilled and unskilled drivers, the major differences between the types of drivers, and I will then offer some suggestions as to how all drivers may improve their driving skills. There are many similarities shared by good and poor drivers. Good and bad drivers come from all ages, ethnicities, and genders. Despite the similarities regarding the ethnicity, age, sex, vehicles, economic status, geographic location, and rules regarding the obtainment of a driver’s license, there are immense differences between the driving practices of good verses bad drivers. In general, poor drivers fail to follow the laws and regulations concerning distances between vehicles, traffic signs, speed limits, signaling, and driving under the influence of intoxicants. They also fail to act responsibly by adjusting their speed to accommodate the circumstances of their environment, avoiding the distractions of their radios and modern technology, and driving aggressively.
