Culture in society is viewed as one of the most important characteristic that helps push humanity forward. Daily we can see the importance in many cultural impacts that have a lasting outcome that shows the importance in diversity. I as a twenty-one year old female with Mexican-American background I have grown into many beautiful traditions and customs. The beauty within this culture has taught me to adapt and learn many values and morals. In my culture being united as a family is great significance; to help out one another when one is going through a hardship is significant in my culture. She was raised in East Asia as an only child with wealthy adopted parents. Her parents paid for her schooling, for her to follow her dreams and become a medical doctor. She looks after the health of her patients and also oversees nurses’ work. One interesting aspect that intrigued me was the work she put into her schooling; in addition, the medical school she attended set high academic expectations for students because her country runs a very different academic system than what is offered in the United States. Within her families tradition the religion they would practice consisted of Buddhism. This was a very appealing side to her because the way she viewed life was heavily influenced by her religious beliefs. Coming from a family that practices Catholicism it was very interesting to see that both religions placed strong values in our lives. Another area that impacted me was the differences in social classes. Even though we come from different economic backgrounds our educational goals are the same we both strive to obtain an interesting career. Furthermore, a slight difference that I notice between our cultural perspectives was the format in which our families function. In my Mexican-American family we tend to hold a high respect for our parents but our parents also tend to show a strong compassion when it comes to helping me. For my sister they also hold a high respect for parents but her family consisted of a stricter form of
