When a person thinks about honesty, they think about someone telling the truth. The definition of honesty is the quality of being honest, and being absent from telling a lie. Honesty has been used throughout all of history. This is a quality everyone needs in his or her life. But in present time today, not too maybe people aren’t as honest as they used to be, and this can really hurt us today as a nation. Using this quality can benefit a person in ways they never thought. When someone is honest they are a better person than someone who is dishonest, there are positive effects of being honest, and having this quality will better his or her self.

For example, say two people are getting interviewed for the same position and there is only one spot left. One person goes in the room for their interview and lies on every question to try and impress the boss. Their lying is obvious, and the boss ends the interview early. The second person goes in and is completely honest and of course, the second person got the job. Even though that the second person told the truth and did not try and impress the boss, they got the job. A person does not have to lie to get something they want or want to go do something. Telling the truth will get a person further in every way than someone who lies. The effects of someone who is honest are great. For instance, being honest can make relationships closer and improve their relationship at the same time. Also, a person will have better mental and physical health, because they do not have to worry about the stress of lying someone puts on his or her self. In fact, being honesty will cut through all the red tape and only get a person to where they want to go, but only quicker than someone who is dishonest.
