Ego integrity Introduction Life is said to be divided into two dominant salient phases in many cultures: in the first phase, from childhood to middle adulthood, we are becoming individuals, gaining knowledge about traditions and values of cultures and learning the ways of the world and maintaining ourselves in the demands of family, work, and society. In the second phase, which begins as Jung declared, with the midlife crisis, we begin spinning inward, reconnecting with the center of our being identifying ourselves as unique and approachable personality . In the first phase we build and develop our ego and in the second phase we transcend and surrender it (Metzner, 1998). In second phase of our life our last developmental stage is focused on creating meaning in one’s life that is sense of fulfillment and ego development and called as ego integrity (Erickson,1997).it works on beyond what we can do and based instead on who we are .It is generally accepted among that the task of the first half of life involves ego development with progressive unification between ego and Self, whereas the second half of life requires a surrender or at least understanding truth of life and Positive stability of the ego as it experiences and relates to the Self (Edinger, 1972, p. 5). The present stage occurs during late adulthood from age 65 through the end of life. During this period of time, people mirror back on the life they have lived and come away with either a sense of fulfillment, character development ,and sense of wisdom from a life well lived or a sense of regret, darkness insecurity and despair over a life worthless. Although many researches has been conducted in promotion of scales for ego integrity which were in English language predominantly, The specialty of this articles is concerned with culturally consistent measure, in our culture where English is not mother tongue language and it was suggested to construct culturally and socially consistent scale rather than just translating it. Thus accurate understanding and communicating emotions are most important in developing healthy relations as well as for personal development. So in order to understand particularly emotional disturbances and slack of feelings of Pakistani people Ego integrity scale was developed according to social and cultural context and in our target language ,
