Can you imagine getting up at seven o’clock in the morning every day and spending most of the day looking into people’s mouth? A very small amount of people can actually manage this task. While I was growing up, I had several ideas of what I wanted to become. When I was around eight years old, I wanted to be a police officer, but then, as the years passed, I reached high school and I had no clue of what was to come of me, during my ninth grade year I thought of becoming a registered nurse. After so many years of debating on what I wanted to do with the rest of my life, I decided to become a dental hygienist. I became really interested in this field because my dentist told me of the many rewarding moments he has received over the years, and from that moment, on I am determined to become a dental hygienist. A dental hygienist typically goes for about two to three years of school to get an associated degree, but you can go to school to earn a higher degree if you want to have a range of working environment. Also, a dental hygienist, according to the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics, states that it “is projected to grow 33 percent from 2012 to 2022, much faster than the average for all occupations” (“Job Outlook”).
