The topic child soldiers is a very serious topic. Are child soldiers criminals or victims? I think they are victims and here are the reasons why I think they are victims. First child soldiers are forced into the war. Second the child soldiers use drugs so they are more compliant. Third they can be easily intimidated by these adults because young children look up to the older people they are around. Fourth the army promised food, shelter, water, and drugs when they have not rewarded those things when they join.
In the article “Child Soldiers: If not Prosecution, Then What?” Some children are kidnapped by military officers and then the children are brainwashed into killing civilians. For the kids that say no, they are killed by a gunshot right then and there. For the kids that join, they are brainwashed and drugged into killing innocent people.
Now some people think that the child soldiers should be prosecuted because they kill U.S soldiers and they just don’t care about it. The thing is that the child soldier that kills U.S troops was brainwashed as a younger child and was taught that killing is good. They are also drugged. The terrorist use cocaine and gunpowder mix to drug these kids and then send them into battle.
These were my reasons why child soldiers are victims. I also counterclaimed a piece of evidence on why someone would think that child soldiers should be prosecuted. I personally feel horrible for these kids because they were brainwashed and that's why if the U.S thinks that some child is a threat there are programs that can try and brainwash him or she so they know killing is a horrible
