Whether a work of art was created a year ago or centuries ago shouldn’t be a huge factor on how a person measures the beauty of the art. Let’s take Aztec art for example. Aztec art has been around for a long time and till this day, it’s one of the most significant type of art ever made. The Aztecs arrived in Mesoamerica in the beginning of the 13th century and they developed an organization that caught the attention of the region’s city-states by the 15th century. Spanish conquistador Hernan Cortes came in and destroyed the Aztec civilization by force and basically took over Tenochtitlan in 1521.
The Aztec people were exposed to many ways of making arts by using different types of mediums. Stone sculpture was one of the most used mediums of Aztec art and animals were included in a lot of these. The Stone of Tizoc is a famous stone sculpture that was created by the Aztecs. It is said that this sculpture remains buried in the debris of Tenochtitlan. Snakes were the most popular in those times. Some snakes were carved to represent …show more content…

This craft was one of the many hereditary occupations. The master artisans in the art industry would prepare the stencils, backing and he would apply the feathers. The woman of the household would dye and organize the feathers. The children also played a role in this; they would prepare the glue. These Aztec feather workers in fact lived together in neighborhoods in the major cities of Mexico, such as Tenochtitlan, Tlateloco, and Texcoco. These works had their own and temple and school and they would come together every once in a while to take participation in public rituals. The nobles in Mexico would use these feathers for purposes such as clothing, gifts to other nobles, home decorations, and to decorate images of the gods.
