Occurring in the 1890’s, changes politically, economically, and socially were due to the gaining of territories in the age of Expansionism. The United States gained the territories of the Hawaiian Islands, the Philippines, and Puerto Rico through annexing them. Annexation means to add (territory) to one’s own territory by appropriation. During the time of Expansionism many factories coincided to account for America’s desire to seek an Imperial policy. After the Civil War the economy of the United States began to expand rapidly; the Civil War succinctly froze the Industrial revolution which initially began around 1815. As a result of the end of the War the nation could finally get out of Industrialization and move on to the next age. This time held many developments and improvements that occurred during Expansionism, and the main word that arose was Imperialism. Due to mechanization and the notion of mass production American industries were allowed to flood the domestic marketplace with consumer goods, mechanization also led to the growth of businesses and the emergence of modern American corporations.Transportation systems were also improved; for example, railroads, The improvement of transportation allowed producers to move goods efficiently to the markers for exchange. Many changes occurred in other sectors of the American economy; for example, farm production increased with the adoption of mechanization. Due to the settlement of the American West in the time of Westward Expansion a class of new farmers adapted so that they could promote to greater yields in crop production.
