I. Identify and Describe Career I chose to gather information about mechanical engineering because I would like to pursue a career in this field. mechanical engineering is a broad subject with countless definitions at best it is simply the analyzation and creation of moving mechanisms. My grandfather always pushed me to be an engineer, because of him I've learned to do well in math and enjoy taking things apart and putting them back together. It is important to understand the education or training requirements, skills or talents needed, salary and benefits offered, and the duties of a mechanical engineer when making this decision. Now that I’ve chosen a career it's time to look at what it involves starting with the location. “Mechanical engineers generally work in offices. They may occasionally visit worksites where a problem or piece of equipment needs their personal attention.”-(“Summary”). Three in every ten engineers that were interviewed worked more than 40 hours a week (“Summary”). Mechanical engineers work in a wide variety of places, they are usually urban but can be worldwide (“Summary”).
