After I graduated high school, I was unsure of what career appealed to me most. The summer before my first year of university, I endlessly researched and debated what career called to me. I soon realized that my calling in life was to help people, but I wasn’t sure how exactly I wanted to help them. Eventually I decided on the career of physical therapy, thinking that this was the way that I wanted to impact someone’s life. Sometimes though, things don’t always go the way we plan and my life plan was one of those things.

This was until I took Introduction to Kinesiology and I began to rethink my career options. During the semester many guest speakers came in to discuss their careers and what options we had as students. One of our guest speakers was an epidemiologist and described his career, and instantly I started researching careers in epidemiology. I decided that a Master’s in Public Health is the best option for myself. While in the program I plan to focus on the specialization of health administration. Overall I feel Health Administrators have the biggest impact on a large amount of people. Health Administration is the right career for me because it involves planning and coordinating which I’m extremely good at thanks to the responsibilities my two part-time jobs thrust upon me. Once I graduate from the program I would like to work in a small health care facility, such as a rehabilitation center. Eventually I would like to work my way up to the CEO of a health programs, but before then I would like to experience all the positions in healthcare administration
With many medical careers students often get confused on what they really want to study, I have faced this problem myself and I know is not that easy due too many choices. There are many options ranging from healthcare to medical jobs. I have thoughtfully chosen to enter the program for Medical Assistant (MA). Ever since I was a child, I’ve spent most of childhood years at the Hospital, I was diagnosed with a rare condition that had to be treated continuously, this meant that I had to be going to checkups every three months so I was close to doctors, surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologist, medical assistants, etc. I remember at first I was frightened just of the thought of going to the doctor but after a few visits I got used to. The doctors and nurses were nice and caring and made me feel comfortable that I end up enjoying my doctor’s visits every time. Since then I decided I wanted to work in the medical field, this is my goal since I can remember. I have always enjoyed helping people in any way I possibly can. I chose to be a Medical Assistant because I think is great way to start my medical career going and programs are practical and not long.
Since a young age, I always felt inclined towards pursuing a career in the health care field; daydreaming about myself working at a clinic or hospital and making a positive impact on someone’s life. When I started college, I decided to major in Biology and explored the different career options the health field had to offer me by shadowing dietitians, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare workers to find my ideal job.
The career that I chose to study was a Physical Therapist. I chose to study physical therapy because it is something that I have become interested in. In this essay I will be telling you about the kind of work a physical therapist does, the skills required to be a physical therapist, the working conditions, the training and education required, the career outlook, and salary.
While growing up I had many ideas of what professional career I wanted to obtain, although until recent years, occupational therapy was not even a thought. It was not until my grandmother had a stroke that I even knew what occupational therapy was or entailed. I watched my grandmother participate in therapy leading her to learn how to tie her shoes again, and the things I thought were so simple as to dress herself again. It was during that time as high school graduation was approaching that I realized I wanted to be apart of that. I wanted to have a role helping others learn and exceed as she did because I seen how much joy it brought her. This experience opened my eye to the things we so often take for granted, that some people lose the ability of doing or lack the ability of doing. I wanted to be in a healthcare profession where I know I could spend quality time with my patients, and be able to help them to improve their quality of life in all aspects. Occupational therapy was the perfect fit. I have found that occupational therapy, amongst others, is one of the most holistic health care professions and I am very proud to have chosen this as the career path to take. It is a profession that requires understanding, compassion, and sensitivity; all of the characteristics that I tremendously value . Occupational therapy is a career where there will certainly be much contribution to society and also bring enormous self-fulfillment.
The purpose of this paper is to gather all the strategies needed to be the best I can be in the future, as a professional. I will express all of my personal goals that I will strive to achieve during college. This paper will serve as a road map to my career path, and will help me better understand the job market. Currently my major is in the college of Kinesiology. The reason I have chosen kinesiology is because I am fascinated with the human body, and learning how to take care of it while it is in motion. We are all born to live, not to simply exist. Experiences in life have taught me there is a purpose behind each individual’s existence. Discovering this purpose, has been challenging. My educational and professional background have helped shape my immediate and long term professional goals. Becoming an Occupational Therapist has become both my immediate and long-term goals in life.
I will complete all my courses and obtain my first bachelor degree in kinesiology in August. I am so excited because I spent six years on earning this degree. I realized most of my classmates are applying to different graduate schools right now, but I decide to take one year off and engage in different activities. My original plan was apply to the accelerated nursing program after I finished my first bachelor, but I changed my mind because kinesiology was an amazing major and it opened my eyes. I used to believe I could only be a good nurse; however, I gain confidence when I took exercise physiology and motor control classes and believed I have the potential to become a good surgeon. I was hired as a teacher assistant and a lab research assistant
From a young age I was interested in the medical field. As I became more exposed to the various options, I decided physical therapy was the right career for me. My experience has proved the field to be interesting and fun. I enjoy working with people and the versatility of therapy. There are many areas to specialize in and I look forward to learning which one is right for me. At the moment I am interested in pediatric acute care but I am also interested in sports and orthopedics. As I continue my studies, I look forward to learning about the different fields in which physical therapy will take me. My future views may change which physical therapy field I wish to pursue, but right now I look forward to learning as much as I can about physical therapy and helping others.
Growing up in a society where there are so many opportunities, I had no problem figuring out what I wanted to do with my life. I have always enjoyed helping others in any way that I was able too. From babysitting, raking leaves, serving as a volunteer for a number of organizations, no matter how big or small the need, I have always found it gratifying to help others. In high school, I was among those students who always indicated that I will be going college. However, unlike most people I seem to meet these days I did not know that I wanted to be a doctor. When it was time to head off to college, I was still unsure of what I wanted to pursue. As most college freshmen, I did not know what major best suits my personality. I desired a career that would define who I am and a career that is self-gratifying. However, the path that I should follow was unclear to me. Because of my uncertainty I failed to see that my parents dream became my reality. As I began my college experience as a nursing student, I felt somewhat out of place. I realized that my reason for majoring in nursing was my parents' influence on me. They wanted me to believe that nursing is right for me. I always knew I wanted to go into the medical field, but I felt that I needed to know how to choose a medical specialty that I feel is right for me. My first step was to change my major. I chose to change my major to biology. My love for science led me to this decision. I began to explore the opportunities open to biology students.

Over the last years, attention to public health issues has been increasing as well as aspirations to high health standards. Medical professions are in high demand because of the need of constant improvements of the health care system. The medical field offers a wide range of valued career paths and opportunities that differentiate by their responsibilities, obligations, educational requirements, and salary. When considering a career in health care, it is very important to analyze all the aspects involved and then determine the choice that best fit the person needs.
From the time, that I had decided that public health was right for me, there has not been any noticeable change in my focus. There has been some tweaking here and there, as I have learned more about the various approaches and strategies for landing a career as an Epidemiologist, Health Scientist, etc. I have come to the realization that it is not as cut-and-dry as I once thought it would be with just the BSPH degree. In retrospect, I had not anticipated the level of education requirement for the field of epidemiology. However, I am very driven and will do whatever it takes to accomplish my goals.
