Personal Reflection On My Family And Public Health

This identity memo about me is only a snapshot. My intent is to reflect on where I am currently and on where I am heading. Herein I will briefly focus on some of my values and how it relates to education within my family and my culture. I will also shed light on my goals and what led me to pursue this MPH degree and if there were changes along the way. Next, I will reflect on my health or family influenced my assumption of public health, and my overall assumptions about people, health, and health care utilization. Also, I will then reflect on my expectations about my performance in the program, if they were met, and what will my MPH degree do for me as it related to career and family. Finally, I am going to explain what my experiences are
From the time, that I had decided that public health was right for me, there has not been any noticeable change in my focus. There has been some tweaking here and there, as I have learned more about the various approaches and strategies for landing a career as an Epidemiologist, Health Scientist, etc. I have come to the realization that it is not as cut-and-dry as I once thought it would be with just the BSPH degree. In retrospect, I had not anticipated the level of education requirement for the field of epidemiology. However, I am very driven and will do whatever it takes to accomplish my goals. My health or my family 's health, overall, has not greatly influenced my assumptions of public health, for we have always known the importance of health and wellness. However, I think the general public 's assumption of public health is a little on the lackadaisical side, for they only seem to care when there is something big, like the flu or the salmonella outbreaks, etc.; other than that, it doesn 't seem to matter much to the masses. Perhaps they do not seem to grasp the concepts of preventative medicine and the major role public health plays in their
