In “Ending Marriage with Grace and Respect”, Tabar defined ‘Marriage’ as the ultimate end of man and woman who agreed to live together. Futhermore, he opts to explain what happens when two people would agree to end the marriage. He quoted “Just as we have marriage ceremonies to mark the beginning of a union, we also need rituals to mark the end.” He speaked of rituals like annulment and nullification of marriage, as well as divorce for ending a marriage. Moreover, he explains that when ending a marriage, the couple will come to face issues on child support, custody and visitation, property settlements, debts, homestead, life/health/dental insurances, birthname, wills and other legal issues on tax.
It is the simple truth that marriages do not always work out. There is nearly an endless list of reasons why a couple who once pledged their lives to each other would want or need to end their union or domestic partnership. Tabar also gave various reasons for couples to want an end in their marriage/separation namely - repeated physical violence or grossly abusive misconduct, drug addiction or habitual alcoholism, lesbianism or homosexuality, and sexual infidelity or …show more content…

In his work, respect was divided into two kinds : Recognition respect and Appraisal respect. ‘Recognition respect’ is owed to a person because he is a person while ‘Appraisal respect’ is given to people who is manifesting excellence as a person. If one were to commit a crime as a ground for ending a marriage, can one still have the same respect from before that person committed the crime ? The question on respect may also depend on the type of crime that was being committed. Adultery ? Drug-Taking/Abuse ? Physical Violence/Abuse ? and what about for Murder ? let us all consider these
