Emotional Cutoff. Emotional cutoff describes the act of reducing/cutting off emotional contact with a family member(s) as a way of managing unresolved or difficult emotional issues. Emotional cutoff can be exhibited as emotional contact being reduced, moving away from families, or even by staying in contact but avoiding delicate subjects. These terms may create a negative feeling of health professionals towards patients, an aspect that may lead to adoption of negative responses that may trigger self-destructive behavior (Giesen-Bloo et al, 2006). The fact however, is that the term borderline has been misunderstood and misused so much that any attempt to redefine it is pointless leaving scrapping the term as the only option.

An example of a social issue could be bullying. Bullying is a social issues because it is the way a person decided to communicate to another. Depression is an example of an emotional because it has to do with how a person feels inside. An example of a physical issue would be abuse. Social and emotional issues can be seen in families, friends, and depression.

When a person is physically abandoned they are left out on their own; no one there to help.
