Frau Feuerameise has a saying, “ My eyes are my favorite part of me; not for how they look, but how they see.” There are many types of eye shapes and colors, but then they all have one purpose is to interpret the things that are being presented in front of them. The human eye plays an important role on a person because they let people see the beauty in life and the hardships of it. The eye has many powers that many people don't know about. Furthermore, In the poem “Before I got my eye put out” by Emily Dickinson, Dickinson uses many figurative languages to explain how important it is to be able to see. In the poem, the speaker repeatedly uses “I” and “Eye”, such as, “Before I got my eye put out. I like as well to see -”(line 1 and 2). The speaker in the poem states, “For newness of the sight - then - fit our Vision to the dark”(Line 7 and 8). This may talk about how one person is stepping into a new start, and not being able to know what to do or unsure about things. For the reason is, “newness of the sight” means that you're “seeing” something new, and “fit our vision to the dark” when a person is in the dark they can not see so that cause them to be unsure about the things. Most importantly, the speaker said, “Directly in the forehead - But as they learn to see”(line 15 and 16). At first, people are willing to take risks by going through obstacles, but as they “learn to see” which mean they will learn from it. As a result, it states, “Adjusts itself to Midnight - And Life steps almost straight”(line 19 and 20).
