INTRODUCTION OVERVIEW
Today, the education sector is one of the main factors involved in planning the socio-economic development of a country. It can accelerate economic growth through the development of knowledge and skills by enhancing human capabilities in producing active individuals. Parents are one of the factors involved in choosing the best education for their children. The selection of children’s school has been one of the issues occurred among parents in Malaysia. On average, parents feel worried when their children want to start schooling early of a year. There are many issues and consideration that arise in choosing the right education for children. Concerns parents are usually related to three factors, namely social, economic and cultural factors. In the past few decades, the private sector in Malaysia has emerged as one of the main sources for delivering education at all level. Over the years, private sector education has generated their own finances. Parents are forced to weigh many factors to make a decisions about which school and type that are appropriate with the aspiration of the family to fulfil the tastes and achieve the parents’ dream and the interests of children. Some parents feel frustrated because they are not given the opportunity to choose the school they are interested in. Their children had to be enrolled in a particular school after being directed by the District Education Office or State Education Department. Various problems has arise due to the phenomenon, such as students are forced to stay in the dormitory, commuting daily on a bus, long-term trip to school and etc. However, few studies have been conducted regarding on school selection by
